as your friend im going to say no you probably wont, but i will say this newest one (which ive spent a good bit of time with) is easily their catchiest and most straight-forward album. You might like this one. Theyre just a weird indie rock band, strange, metallic textures and unorthodox structures and very specific and abstract lyrics deeply rooted in literature.

Uhhhhh honestly probably not. Ken got most of it right. Give the new album a listen when it comes out IMO, you might like a couple songs on there, but I don't think you'd like much of their back catalog

i don't get advances anymore, so no. hahaha.
only things i still get are ones of a few press people who have me on their lists still that i decided not to unsubscribe from, hah. but even those aren't anything real special. beartrap stuff is the coolest i still get

i like them. i don't feel so strongly about this band as the others in this thread do, i loved the last though. was the first record of listened of theirs, got the advance last time like two months early and was like "whoa this dude sounds like craig owens lol"

 

Same situation, except I don't hear the Craig Owens at all haha

 

i don't anymore but the first listen really got me, saw an on this day on facebook a few days ago that had me be like whaaaaat? haha

 

I wouldn't say NONE of the album sounds like that song, haha. I mean it's an outlier in the sense that "Warning" was strictly because of the size of its hook, but I think its mood and vibe are pretty consistent with the rest of the album

 

Not sure how I didn't see this til now but yeah, I agree. I would say HAH is poppier than the rest of the album tho

 

Quoting this again because yeah... my first listen was enjoyable but definitely overwhelming. I think once I got to Mallwalking, though, I'd gotten used to the "vibe" of the record and started to really appreciate what was going on. Very excited to spend more time with this, especially once I can read the lyrics along with it, because part of what made this band fully click with me was reading the lyrics to LOSE. It really helped me see the brilliance of the way Joe structured the melodies on that record.

 

I am truly jealous of everyone who somehow was able to hear this record in full already

I love this album a whole lot one of the best and most interesting rock albums to come out this year.

 

i was gonna do a first impressions post but it's really hard to articulate any thoughts about this album rn. might try to review it once it's sunk in a bit tho. i think i want to do less of a straight up review and more of a retrospective / review that incorporates the context of their past three releases

fuck this band means so so much to me. i fell for Lenses and WTAM in the year after LOSE's release and all three records have been very musically/personally formative over the past couple years

for me, LOSE and LA have been very important and have been small bits of comfort throughout the past year or so ive been into the band. All 4 albums are extremely unique and creative and just great.

 

WELL might be my favorite song from them since definite darkness tbh
