It was close in being a passable live action, prequel, whatever whatever... But too long. Estella turning to Cruella was forced and not believable. Back and forth, back and forth of makkng us root for her...but shes also becoming mad Very? Very lazy writing.. I'm absolutely shocked this thing had FIVE writers attached to it..shocked I say! And for the love of God, i think 20 British60s song montages may have been a bit much. Very stylish movie, ill give it that.
Counterpoint: This rules and is the only “live action Disney remake™” I want in my life. Also, I stopped in Barnes & Noble today and saw the Cruella manga by Hachi Ishie, from Disney & Viz, and dang it, I might actually end up buying it eventually, lol.
Just watched this. Enjoyed the first half enough, but then the wheels definitely came off a bit in the second half.
This movie's come up twice this past week, lol. Really is so much more fun than it has any right to be, imo. Certainly one of the best live action Disney flicks of the past five years (including all of Marvel & Star Wars). I don't know what to expect from a sequel, but if it's another kitschy camp romp where Craig Gillespie lets Emma Stone do her thing, then I'm obviously in.
