I've spent this whole season thinking Kate and Mallory were going to end up together but then talking myself out of it and thinking it was just whacky writing and you bet I shot up off the couch when they kissed.
Thought the episode was a pretty safe ending, my Annabelle theory was mostly correct but it was a weird scene with Martin that unhinged and still manipulative down to the end. Everything wrapped up a little nicely if anything. But the actual actual ending was about a good of a twist that I could've hoped for.
They’ve been pointing towards something twisted with Janette the entire series. The fixation with Kate, breaking into Martin’s house consistently, and especially the scene where she’s watching the movie or TV show and starts mimicking the character. Not sure what show people who say it came out of nowhere were watching
Martin's house is like 10 minutes from me. May have to drive by the next time I'm in that neck of the woods. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...BBAG&usg=AOvVaw2AYHMU_KTJgSkA8cSQWPv0&cf=1
I wish they had just kept it at one season. Take away the last final twist and just end the series there. That final reveal before the end of the episode was the one thing I was hoping they wouldn’t do, and it feels thrown in there just to give the show a plot for the 2nd season. I still enjoyed the show more than I thought I would ever enjoy a Freeform show, but I’m not as excited to watch a 2nd season now.
The showrunner said they have no idea what Season 2 would be. She said she didn't know if it would be same characters/continuing story or new characters new story. She said they were told Season 2 was renewed and then they all went on vacation and haven't had a chance to brainstorm. Cruel Summer Boss Talks Finale's Twist Ending, Kate's Feelings for [Spoiler] and the Show's 'Wide Open' Season 2 TVLINE | Do you see the final scene with Jeanette as a jumping-off point for Season 2? Season 2 is wide open. We’re literally just starting the work. But Season 1 was designed to be a complete story. That is the final puzzle piece to the mystery of Season 1, more so than, I would say, a cliffhanger. TVLINE | Do you envision continuing with these characters? I don’t know. I know nothing of Season 2. We literally just got the word, and then went on vacation, so… [Laughs] I don’t know.
I struggled to get through this season so if it's the same characters/continuing story, no chance I watch Season 2. I don't think they would continue on that way though.
I feel like if they keep the same characters, this could quickly turn into Pretty Little Liars. That was fine when it started but just got more and more ridiculous as the seasons went on. With new characters/story I feel like this show has a better chance of not getting stale.
Showrunner hasn’t given the same answer twice on the “what will season 2” look like question AKA making this thread look like a mess lol
I also didn't take into account the possibility of season 2 being totally new characters. If that's the case, it takes away from a bit of the criticism I had about the ending. I was worried it was setting up a PLL situation like Meggers mentioned.
Wasn’t meaning to call anyone out, just saying that anytime one of us says something with a quote to back it up there’s another quote to muddy the waters more. At this point I’m just assuming the entire thing is up in the air and we’ll see when we see
Rewatched the pilot yesterday and one of the first things we see is the card in the bike tire. I’m a sucker for details like that
Been meaning to watch this show for the past month and finally got around to watching it. Overall I really liked it and found myself always really excited for the next episode because I really had no idea what to expect. I will say I was not a huge fan of the final scene, it seemed like a forced scene to bring about one final twist. But thinking about it does make a lot of sense, as Jeanette did tell Vince she went back to the house "many times", so the whole way through I was thinking that there had to be more close encounters with Kate than just the one time they showed I think the cast was good, so I wouldn't mind them using most of the same cast with a different story for season 2.
Another thing I wanted to mention is that, unless I’m just misremembering, they don’t actually give us any incite as to how the police found her in Martin’s house, right? After 10 months of her missing, what finally gave the police the direction to go to his house?
I think it’s mentioned briefly in the last episode, after she shot him, she called the cops the next morning and told them where she was.
Rewatching the first few episodes knowing how it ends, I think they completely justify that final scene. Particularly the scene where she’s watching the television show and starts trying to impersonate the character on the witness stand. I think they really set her up to have something kind of nefarious under the surface
Yeah the more I think about it the more I actually do like the final twist. From the beginning, they really did set it up to have us believe she must be hiding something. The way she acted so excited to find out Kate was missing, and then when Kate was found reacting as if she was hoping she was dead because she was afraid of the truth coming out.
