I really like this band and how creative they are but the song could easily have been on their last few releases. I'm not mad about that either.

Sonically it's not a great departure.

I get the feeling we'll get more female led songs on the next album.

I don’t think anyone‘s saying it’s a huge departure, but this is more in line with Eternity and everything that came before it than it is SD&TIV and American Noir.

This is a good take, also SD&TIV made a conscious effort to steer away from the punk drums so was more of a departure.

It's clearly *distinct* but it's still Creeper. Which is about all I can ask for!

EDIT (because I feel guilty for double posting): just discovered that Ghost Brigade was produced by Tom Dalgety, who did among other things Royal Blood's debut album and Prequelle by Ghost - now that's a crossover!

Suspected they might do something in the build up to Slam Dunk this weekend. New song tomorrow maybe, with a live debut this weekend I would guess.

    Love the self aware ending.

I think I posted this in a news thread but, basically, I've been on roughly a 13 month journey of slowly discovering and getting into this band. It started with the end credits of Scream 5 and me being absolutely obsessed with the Salem song. It was really a "holy shit this sounds like Alkaline Trio and MCR had a baby in 2004" or something like that. Really loved it. And that's where it kinda stayed for a while. Then this past fall/winter, I was recommending some songs to a student who is into pop punk/emo, and it made me decide to explore some more of Salem's stuff. I didn't find anything else from their EP's that REALLY grabbed me, but in the process I learned that Salem was actually this dude's side project and his main band was Creeper. I think Black Rain and Suzanne were the first ones I listened to and was like oh shit yeah these are good. Since then I've been adding more and more songs from this band to my itunes library as I keep realizing how much I like them. Been really loving Midnight, One of Us, Gloom, Cyanide, and a few others

So then seeing this thread at the top and seeing they're releasing a new album is cool. This song is interesting. I love the 80's vibe to it. It doesn't grab me like some of their others/it's a little on the weirder side lyrically and visually haha, but I don't dislike it.

The 80's synth stuff is the exact direction I was hoping this band would take.

This is incredibly 80s and I completely fuck with it. A part of me will always miss Eternity and everything that came before it, but this band doesn’t really miss

I know this post is 3 years old now so you might have discovered this on your own, but despite me also enjoying the "pop"ier side of things more so than many in this thread it seems, I've still found a lot of songs to like from their first album and first few EPs. Black Rain might be a good place to start, that worked for me haha.

And I'm still catching up on reading the whole thread but the EP they put out last year also has some great songs on it that I love, again more on the melodic/poppier side of their sound than the fast punk rock side.

Until we get a new thread I'll just say I fuck with Cry To Heaven except the key change feels a bit naff.

The key change works for me with the whole 80's/ Jim Steinman thing they're going for.
