A local Chicago musician I follow had some thoughts on this festival, and I am curious what everyone else thinks about this.
I mean the overall point that user is making is valid but I’m not sure why this particular tour evoked that reaction. This lineup has more diversity than most tours I see. Sure it could be better, but we also have to recognize that black people (and black women in particular) are still an underrepresented population in this part of the music world and it’s not Courtney Barnett’s responsibly to fix that.
Finally got around to this record today, definitely more mellow than her other records but it’s very easy to get lost in the songs in a good way
Apparently I was one of the first 100 people to buy tickets for the MA date this Saturday so I get to pick up an exclusive flexi-disc at the merch booth :)
I hope Here and There becomes a yearly festival because that was so much fun and pretty much a perfect, full day of music. Probably the best Courtney performance I’ve been to. There was a full moon and we all howled like wolves, a train went by and it was a whole moment
was it a full day festival some places? i thought it was just mostly 3-act shows with a revolving door of support
Chicago date is just Courtney, Alvvays, and The Beths. My guess is maybe shows on the weekend get more acts than weekday shows because the shows are outdoors and also on weekends, but I could be wrong.
The Massachusetts lineup was absolutely stacked though and I wish that was coming to Chicago, even though I’m excited for Alvvays and The Beths.
Going to the Manchester show tonight, absolutely can't wait. Can tell she's going to be great. Curious about the set list but don't want to spoil it beforehand. Hope the tour poster is a good one.
