Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the title of the album may allude to it being their last, I doubt that’s the case though.
Either Brendan or the CP page had a tweet/post recently where he stated “probably our last” but written somewhat in the same vein of all his bit tweets, so take that as you will. Band sounds as good as ever. I’m excited.
Yeah it’s hard to know for sure since Brendan’s online persona is…unusual. Like everyone else said however, song is a rager.
The bit basically developed out of Brendan’s apathy towards society. Followed the band since inception and he’s battled depression and what I believe is also bi-polar disorder most of his life. I think in the early days of CP, his lyricism and public persona were forced to try and resemble perseverance and hope. Now he takes the route of complete comical disdain for humanity and the music scene since none of that worked in his youth, and embracing the cynical outlook has done nothing but garnered more fans lol.
Holy shit, I’ve been a huge CP fan since current but this is new to me. That’s interesting to know and it makes a lot of sense in context.
Thoughts on the record? I really loved NLTL but also recognize that I favor Jesse’s style of writing to Blake and Alex’s.
I think track 1 and track 2 are both about it since I believe track 1 is like the intro to it picked up a lot of lyrics on track 2 that relate to Kuma also I’ve only listened through the record one time so not a lot of concrete thoughts other than it rips for sure
This... this might be the best Counterparts song. Also Brendan is funny but relatable as hell. I struggle with a lot of mental health stuff as well as a general sense of nihilism
Is there a CP thread or an album thread? I know the band is generally not that popular on here but I’d like to keep up this album cycle.
After one listen, I kind of thought it sounded like Counterparts on autopilot, but hoping more listens will change that. Still excited cause Alex and Jesse being back is a dream come true.
I love the melodic leads and the contrast throughout. he also looks like my cat, so i'm tearin up before work reading along with the lyrics
