Listening now again I can't agree they should've only touched the old ones. I stand by my previous post the run through Every Silence and Fire Eater at the beginning is just perfect, gives me chills. And same here that's hard to imagine for me not to like it if you even like Aaron's voice, the production just lays it down straight on your heart haha, with a blanket of amazing instrumentation, cool drum sounds etc.
very excited for the stream tomorrow. made plans to set up a projector on my friends roof for it. we did the same for the Foxing album performance. also, this will be in heavy rotation for the forseeable future.
Yeah this is really stunning. Great companion pice to their catalogue. Of the non-singles, Every Silence, Love Affair, and You Have my Attention have jumped out the most so far.
So incredibly excited for the cavern show. Me and my wife took a trip for this weekend for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Brightest was our first dance, Copeland was what we first connected over. Going to be a special show for us.
This was a lovely listen over Saturday morning breakfast. I adore Blushing, but I've never properly got to revisiting their earlier records, so most of this was entirely new to me. Can't really see what's not to like about this, but I don't have the familiarity with the originals to compare. I'll definitely be spending more time with this over autumn.
This is absolutely jaw dropping. A lot of these types of projects are just some basic strings in the background. This is SO much more. The orchestrations are so dynamic and take such cool turns in spots. And then the re-structuring of the guitars and keys and drums beneath to suit it is just expert as hell. I’ve always thought Aaron Marsh was a genius but this is a high water mark
It's not an exact match, but I immediately thought of Copeland the first time I heard this song. If I had to imagine a more urgent-sounding direction for current era Copeland, it might not be too far off from this...
I enjoy that band but I should check out more of their stuff. To be clear I don’t mind Copeland’s slow stuff. I adore everything to YAMS and enjoy Ixora. Blushing seemed a bit airy for me in a way that nothing really stuck, but I liked it when it dropped. This collection took that airiness to another level and the orchestral swells feel maudlin and cloying in a bad way at points. Makes me really miss their old work. The first two tracks are cool though.
Is there a guest vocal on “You Have My Attention” or is that actually Aaron near the end? Cause if so I did not know he had those notes in the arsenal. Hot damn.
I freaking love that they ended the show with Erase. It's absolutely one of my favorite songs from this era of the band, and it sounded phenomenal. This entire performance in this cave, the atmosphere, all of it... stellar. Sad that Bryan got covid two days ago and couldn't play but damn this was still incredible. I love these guys so much.
It was stunning. The audio quality was excellent. I was stoked that they also streamed the opener (Jenny Dee).
going through RD right now and I was not expecting that little transition between Every Silence and Fire Eater. such a dope touch
