Curious what they do with something like Ordinary. I love the simplicity of that track and curious what they do with it with an orchestra Most excited to hear Love Affair, Chin Up, Should You Return and You Have My Attention Good Morning Fire Eater should be spectacular as well
yeah, as excited as i am for this, the breakdown of tracks per album is a little disheartening. four tracks are from YAMS, 2 are from IM, and BMT, ESR, Ixora, and Blushing each have 1. i understand that Ixora and Blushing are already fairly rich in the orchestral compositions, but so is YAMS. i wish BMT and ESR had some more representation.
I feel like Chin up already has a lot of strings so not sure why that’s making the cut but I’ll take what I can get
From an instagram comment: '''rmathis15hey @aaronmarshmusic! how did you end up choosing the songs you did? any particular reason for no ESR representation? so excited to hear this! aaronmarshmusic@rmathis15 - it’s interesting. We really wanted to make it feel like a “best-of” so we used streaming data a lot. No songs from ESR enter our top 20 songs on any streaming platform. “Control Freak” is the most popular from that album, but I couldn’t picture it with the orcheatra, so we went with “Love Affair” from ESR, based on our gut feeling that it was a fan favorite from that era. It was the song I was least excited about before we started, but it’s turning out to be one of my faves. The orchestra sounds so cool on the jazzy ending."
Tuned into a livestream of Aaron doing q&a on instagram for a bit, and when asked about new music after Revolving Doors he said he already has more new Copeland songs written before going into record an album than he ever has. So it probably won’t be long after the release of Revolving that they record the next record. So that’s extremely exciting.
Chad Howat is mixing this thing, so i just know it's gonna sound as illustrious as ever (also Chad, if you can see this and know how to mix in Dolby Atmos, please do so because hearing this album in surround sound will absolutely ruin me).
Lovely of course, but can't wait for the other tracks that might be a bit more surprising. With "Ordinary" I've already had that adventurous approach listening to it on Ixora, later on Twin, well and combining them together - getting lots of different musical angles to one track, it was a genius idea back then! Sounds beautiful now though!
this one is just ok — not a track i would pick for this kind of reimagining. the loud orchestra at the end is kinda anticlimactic against the bored vocals. loved the coffee redo tho
Ordinary means a lot to me. They released it a day or two after my dad passed. The juxtaposition between what the song is about and what I was dealing with just hit me like a ton of bricks. Still does. Love every version of it. sorry for being a debbie downer, haha.
This one didn't do anything for me either. Really utterly boring. I don't think I'm going to like this album
idk i guess i just think that everything about the song begs for the barest possible arrangement but maybe that's just me

Jenny Dee is indeed fantastic & I'll always try to push her (Aaron-produced btw.) debut for people to hear!
