Same. Hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Ixora came out. That said, I am ELATED that Copeland is an active band that is even making another new album. So I guess 2018 will have to do. Haha
Started with Ixora. Now I’m on YAMS. Think I might just work my way backwards through their discography today.
Aaron is on the latest episode of the Tooth and Nail podcast, mainly discussing Beneath Medicine Tree. Definitely goes into the lyrics and what the songs are about further than I've ever heard him do. Cool episode.
It bothers me more than it should that the Tooth n Nail pod bleeps the mild curse words used. But yeah that Copeland ep was good
anyone interested in buying my original pressing of YAMS? The sleeve has some wear, but the actual record was maybe played once or twice
Ixora is actually an extremely difficult listen for me-- in fact, it puts me on edge. It's an emotional journey. I love it though.
Looking for warm moody music similar to You Are My Sunshine. The only records that live up to that level of coziness is Rhye's Woman and maybe JEW's Clarity. I'm down for any genre- any recs?
Did YAMS immediately click for all of you? I've always been a casual fan of that record, while I am in love with E.S.R. and Ixora is one of the greatest records of all time. I think YAMS is great, and all the even numbered tracks are fantastic, but I never thought it was quite as great as the two records around it. BMT and In Motion are also both great but have some parts that never hit me. Amazing band anyway
Bon Iver self titled has a similar vibe to Ixora for me, but idk what other people think. I would also like to know what other "cozy" albums sound like these guys. Edit: I would recommend checking out Emarosa's Reimagined EP's even if you aren't a fan of that band. Aaron produced them and his touch is all over them
I don't love YAMS quite as much as ESR and Ixora but it's not far behind and I think it was more immediate for me, the other two took longer to really get into.
