i think they've gotten better with age album to album but YAMS wins in emotional resonance to me based on the new songs that will continue
I listened to ESR first and it all got better from there. YAMS really blew me away having heard nothing quite like it and the fact that I listened to it in..what..like 2014 and it still was a great album. Ixora just solidified it for me, keeps getting better
Beneath Medicine Tree is the album I return to the least, but I really love "Coffee" and "California"
In Motion was my introduction the band, which is probably why it's so high up there for me. belting out You Have My Attention alone in the car is still a favorite pastime of mine.
The end of You Have My Attention always makes me emotional for some reason. Just listening to them jam out at the end just gets me. It's weird.
It's like their best song live because Aaron holds that last note for what seems like an eternity. So fucking good.
I too think Ixora is my least favorite. I know that's sacrilege but it doesn't hold the same personal emotional resonance as the others do... though I do admit I love each and every song on that record and World Turn still turns me inside out
I'm pretty sure Ixora is my second favorite. Still absolutely love it. I hope we get a new album this year.
Bump... for those that have been asking about the new songs. Night Figures will be on the new record, Erin is just a b-side.
That's hard to say. When "Chin Up" was released after ESR as a standalone song, it ended up being a demo. When they wanted it on YAMS, they decided to re-record it so that it would sound like the rest of the album. Night Figures sounds like a finished product to me.
I get that Aaron has been doing his own thing for a while now, but man, I miss the guitars sometimes.
