It's weird that I don't think of in motion and medicine trees as my favorite Copeland records at all but in some ways they were the best parts of last nights show. Aaron hit you have my attention perfectly and belted out the note for a crazy amount of time, makes me wish we would have had more material like that from him back in the day. He sounded fantastic, very in tune and great control of his tone. Only issue is that falsetto is so much quieter than actual singing voice so sometimes those high falsetto parts felt buried in the mix, especially the end of erase
the thing about those records NOW is that they don't sound very good because aaron wasn't even closed to developed as a vocalist but now that he and the rest of the band have developed those songs sound so much tighter and just generally better
Yea they are solid songs just not fully realized to their full potential so hearing them now they are better than on the recording. I definitely agree with that, California was incredible with the string trio, hearing the strings playing that melody was breathtaking
I love In Motion as is, but I remember hearing Aaron say that they made a lot of changes to those songs for label/reception reasons and it's not the record he wished they put out. Would be interesting to hear a reworked version of it after all they've made since. Again, love it as is. But it would be interesting.
Worth sharing, video I took last night. I don't watch the show through my phone so it's shaky and video isn't great but audio is solid
So, I take it this record cycle is going to be a lot like Ixora's in the sense that we're getting a single really early in the year, but the record probably won't be out until fall/winter?
My guess is they will release the record this fall and tour on in this fall/winter. They seem pretty settled on these late in the year tours.
only bummer is that this set is going to be less good as it goes on and they get to their earlier stuff haha. sucks to get that high too early
oh yeah I mean I like select songs from early on it's just absolutely nowhere the new stuff haha Met this dude whose favorite album is BMT and I truly don't get it other than a time and place thing haha
I do think the YAMS set was my favorite part. damn, this was one of the best shows I've been to this year.
