It's available on their merch store if you can't make it to a show. Copeland: Copeland Sunshine Raglan Shirt
Thanks, doors for my show are at 7 so it should be done even earlier if they stick to the same timeline.
Yeah. It was listed as doors at 8:30 and show at 9. So I'm not really sure if it was a fluke or how it's been the rest of the tour. But that's how it ended up going last night. Either way, get ready because you are in for a spectacular night.
They were great last night. The band sounded extremely tight and the string trio is a near perfect addition to their live sound. Rae was sick and not able to perform, which was a major bummer. Also, the crowd was pretty lame and disrespectful, talking over a lot of the quieter songs. It got so bad that about a minute into When You Thought You'd Never Stand Out Aaron stopped playing and said "Sorry, I can't sing with that much talking" and then skipped the rest of the song. I will never be able to understand why someone would pay $20 for a concert ticket only to talk over the band for the whole show. Other than that, it was a great night, and I was thrilled to see them for a second time with my girlfriend. Their music was very prominent for us in the formative stages of our relationship. Awesome performance, awesome band.
I pretty much did. It was so sad, too, because Aaron said something like "I get it, we'll play something faster, something that can hold your attention" and I was like "Noooooooo thats one of your best songs!" I thought Aaron handled the whole thing very well, but it kind of breaks my heart that he actually apologized onstage for playing new songs. As if performing anything post-2005 is warrants an apology.
I was up front and there was this guy yelling and all over the girl he was with... I wanted to turn around and scream at him, but Aaron was literally right in front of me and I'm sure that would have been super distracting on top of everything else. People suck. Ugh. The first half was fantastic. After that, you could tell he was pissed. :(
That's so sad. I love that song so much. I'm so mad that these people that have the privilege of seeing this fantastic band that I'll likely never be able to see weren't even paying attention and appreciating it.
Just in case you were the dude up front who knew Tears of a Child, I'm talking about the guy in the gray jacket. @ImAMetaphor
Nah, I was in the back of the room. My girlfriend is shorter than your average concert-goer so we try to find a spot towards the back where she can at least kind of see, haha. All of the people who were not just talking, but actively attempting to talk OVER the band and cackling like witches on Halloween can go fuck themselves. Like, people paid to see a concert, not listen to you blabber on. If you so badly want to laugh with your friends maybe consider going to a bar without live music.
I saw Andy Hull play a Right Away Great Captain show once and the people at the bar were being so loud he stopped in the middle of a song and told them to shut the fuck up. This kind of thing makes my blood boil.
Bummer. Aaron already dislikes touring. I saw them 4 shows into the tour, and he mentioned that it felt like they've been gone for a month.
That sucks that people were talking. It's not like they could have been there for someone else, like They paid specifically to see copeland so I don't understand treating the band so rudely like that
Ixora is my favorite record by far and I've been listening to this band since medicine trees was their only record. I'm happy to hear stuff from every album and different eras.. I swear if people talk during the slow stuff I'll be real bad bc that's kind of the whole point of this show isn't it? A more intimate setting at a real small venue
Same with me, I remember seeing them back in like 2003, was instantly hooked. Ixora is definitely my favorite
Your descriptions made me really upset, I'd probably lose it... It was just once during a supporting act before City & Colour, (Hannah Georgas, she sounded awesome) I told a few people to shut the fuck up, but talking while Copeland would be playing some of my favorite songs, I'd probably beat them up with my own shoes hmm. Too bad they're probably never ever heading to Europe. Can't wait for that tour to end to maybe have a chance to listen to those 2 new songs : )
Are people being assholes at this shows a recurring theme with these shows, or more just an isolated case at that one show? I'm gonna be real pissed if people ruin the Eat, Sleep Repeat, You Are My Sunshine and Ixora parts of the set. I like those records way more than the first two (though I still like that first two a lot)
