Downtown Lakeland is nice. The rest of Lakeland is very much not, haha. I like "Walking Downtown," but it's not one of my top songs on the album. I never realized so many people didn't like it until this thread.
This is my impression of the place as well. Surprised there's not a line about the ten thousand swan statues lol
I grew up in Tampa, and every time we were in Lakeland we were always like, "So, what's the with the swans? Can we leave now?"
Kite is something I typically skip over, but it is an okay song. I don't particularly like the melody of the pre-chorus. Feels like it belongs in a carnival which takes me out of the music. I love the lyrics though
Just sitting here on my deck on a beautiful Saturday afternoon playing fetch with my dogs, drinking coffee, listening to You Are My Sunshine and loving life.
What kind of synth is in the beginning The Day I Lost My Voice and in the background of the verses in Should You Return? Ive heard it in lots of other stuff too. Suppose its a woodwind plugin or something.
That would be a mellotron, Aaron has been using them since their first record. Essentially a sampled woodwind in this case.
Just a vst right? Or do you know if he has that sound on a synth? I know he uses a Microkorg. I'm starting to get into synths and I was listening to YAMS yesterday. Thanks!
I wonder if or when we will get a follow up to ixora, it's okay if we don't but damn I love that record
I think Aaron's said they'll make one and I think it was looking like we might get one late next year or something like that. Not sure but I'd guess about then or 2018. I definitely think it'll happen though.
Yeah they definitely have said there will be another record, but they aren't rushing anything, spending time in the "Ixora era" for a while
I haven't listened to Twin by itself since a few weeks after it came out. Definitely listen to the original the most, but throw on the combined version pretty often too. Combined World Turn and Like A Lie are so good
I belive they use an actual mellotron as opposed to software, though you can definitely find some VSTs! Welcome to the fantastic world of synths, it's a good time.
