Man, my girlfriend is the best. I got the first pressing of Ixora, and it was scratched all across the B side, and I just got the mail and she bought me the new pressing. I will say though, the sleeve the disc is in is the absolute worst. Switched it to a normal paper one because it was pretty well stuck in there (same experience with the first pressing too)
Not too many people agree but Beneath Medicine Tree is my favorite album. They've never made a bad album but this album blows me away everytime I hear it.
I almost view Copeland as two separate bands because Beneath Medicine Tree and In Motion are so drastically different than Eat, Sleep, Repeat, You Are My Sunshine and Ixora. Beneath Medicine Tree would be at least tied to be my favorite if it wasn't for Walking Downtown though. haha
To me ESR is a natural progression from the experimentation of songs like Sleep, Kite, Coffee, and Choose the One Who Loves You More
I'm one of those people who doesn't get mad about a band changing the direction of their music. I enjoy hearing the change. Aaron Marsh could sing the ABC's for 12 tracks and I'd still buy it.
I have the record on vinyl and nowhere in the liner notes does it say there is saxophone on the album, but it does say there's trumpet.
Well you're wrong. You can look up Caspian Dust and Disquiet Jonathan Green on Google and it credits him for trumpet on the album.
Just looked in my CD booklet and it credits Mikel Larrinaga on Saxophone. Edit: Also looked at my vinyl and it credits him there too. So looks like you're wrong, eh?
Haha you're welcome. I just thought it was a bizarre conversation, especially considering trumpet does not sound like that. haha
It's under the orchestra. I have both the first and second pressing of Ixora and both of them have it in there.
You are aware I am referring to Separation No. 2 by Caspian, right? I know that's a sax on World Turn. teebs41 mentioned that Caspian song and I told him it was trumpet, not sax.
Nope. Hahahaha I clicked on the original quote and saw World Turn so I just figured since it was the Copeland thread. Fuck, sorry.
I was super confused too. I thought World Turn was super obvious and thought it was bizarre there was a debate about it. haha I'd have to listen to Caspian. I imagine you'd be right there if there's no sax mentioned.
I highly recommend their new album, Dust And Disquiet, which is where Separation No. 2 is on. I thought it was a sax in that song at first too, but my roommate when I was at music school for a semester said it sounded like a muted trumpet. Apparently, the drummer's friend in the UK recorded the part and sent it over to them. I believe that's the story. It may only have been mentioned in a studio session and not an interview. But on my copy of the vinyl and on Allmusic there is trumpet credited on the album.
This band, Thursday, and The National are always the bands I point to when it comes to perfect progression
haha and my feeling of stupid is enhanced. I've really only been paying half attention today due to having a lot to do and no food in me.
