I don't like his voice, not a huge fan of the lyrics, and feel like it kinda throws off the flow of the album. What do you like about it?
I think his voice is amazing on that song, I really like some of the lyrics and I love the vibe of the song. As I said I almost always adore any song with significant accordion but it just creates such a unique sound for that song that nothing else in their discography has.
They've gotten better with every release and Erase is their best song. No need for any more opinions.
I think "bottom" is a very faux term when it comes to this band. "These are good songs we like less than those good songs" etc
Yeah. There Cannot Be a Close Second is a great song but it's still in my bottom 5 because they have hardly any weak songs.
I also spent some time with World Turn this morning as requested. It's a beautiful song, but I think I put my finger on why it's not my favorite/memorable. Where most of Ixora spends so much time building this really lush experience, it's so bare bones it throws me off. Not like this is a bad approach by any means, and they do it very well.
That's partly why it stands out so much for me. Just the guitar, Aaron's voice and the sound of the rain. It's so beautiful.
On it's own, it's a lovely experience. But squeezed between two of the heaviest hitters on Ixora? As soon as I finish my 900th listen of Lemonade, I'm probably gonna start a Copeland binge.
In Her Arms and Chiromancer are sooooooooooo goooooooooooooood. But I'm a sucker for any time Copeland brings in a female vocalist.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for this band, especially since Aaron Marsh sent me the instrumental for Erase for my wife to walk down the aisle to. Going to listen to that album right now I think.
I started Ixora and poured a cup of coffee, and then opened the windows just as it started raining outside. Well played, Copeland, you nature wizards, you.
