yeah that must be an odd thing to resolve as an artist. you keep putting in your all, growing in life, and there's just this encapsulated version of you that people desire more. i saw tguk a few weeks ago, and they did the album in full then mostly old songs. i wanted to yell out "satellite!" or "lou barlow!" because i like the new stuff a lot, too. oh well, double-edged sword.
touring as an old person has gotta be tough. sleeping in a bus / van / hotel, being away from family / creature comforts.
if Aaron is old, then that means that I am old, and only I am allowed to call myself old, and yes it is tough
lol "old" i should have probably specified. like old enough where the thought of camping on bare ground gives you back pain old.
I honestly don't know if that'd be a great move for them, at least from my perspective. So much of Copeland's strength stems from their ability to arrange and produce extremely lush, atmospheric, and entrancing soundscapes. It's something not everyone can do, and even those that can probably can't do it as well as they can. While I have no doubt they could go back to simpler song construction, (ala YAMS for example) I don't know if Ixora/Blushing are all there is to say/do in their current arena. If they do opt to simplify, I do hope they don't play it safe. Keep involving strings and brass, keep doing female guest features, and don't be afraid to shake things up.
oh yeah i'm hearing they're going for more of a east coast hardcore style this go around, like pain of truth / mindforce. /s
Was gonna message you but I can't DM your profile. It's cool though. Something else may totally happen. I hesitated about sharing because I was worried about annoying anyone on here.
If anyone wants to put a cryptic timeline of when we can expect said new music I wouldn’t mad about it. I’ll take anything I can get at this point.
when performing live, there are just very few things in this world that can beat rocking out on a Les Paul
I'd agree but Copeland has not had an emphasis on live in years. If they're gonna go back to touring like they're all 22 again I'm certainly down. More power to em. By Aaron has always struck me as more comfortable in the studio, so it'd be quite a shift.
personally I feel like after Ixora and Blushing I wouldn't mind if they shake stuff up a bit and if that means incorporating more guitars into the fold then so be it. I trust them to do it in a way that’s fresh and suited to their maturity and not a cynical regression to appeal to the nostalgia of fans of their early material.
Honestly more guitars just sounds like they’d end up somewhere more YAMS’s sounding and I’m DEF down for that
If I hadn't splurged on BFF in Vegas, I would have just done this instead. Never would I have expeced Dance Gavin Dance, Mom Jeans, Hot Mulligan, and Copeland to play on the same lineup. I'd go for those four alone and just enjoy the vibes of the rest of the acts.
