a band called Valise opened for them on the first few tours after the reunion, and they were fantastic. Highly recommend this album and wish we had gotten more from them
really enjoying ixora. definitely wasn't the right time for me to listen to this when it came out. but a lot of water has passed since then. also been listening to the new anxious record. i wonder if grady would cite copeland as an influence...
there's also a bonus track out there called Like I Want You. it's up on YouTube. curious to hear your thoughts on Ixora Twin at some point
That timpani roll into the climax at the end *wheeeeew* one of those songs that I still remember exactly where I was and how I felt the first time I heard it
I'd really want to hear a follow up to their album. I listened to it again whole day yesterday. Also, I actually really enjoy that Haunted Mouths album on headphones, the vocals don't bother me at all like they usually did with what I tried from SWS (just the whole output from that band has never been my thing)
I feel like I ask this thread the same question every like 9 months or so, but in light of the new Aaron/kellin album… Anyone got any band recommendations to scratch the copeland itch? Bonus points if it’s like from the past 2 years lol. This might just be nostalgia talking, but I feel like there’s a real void for the type of emotional, soft ambient indie rock of the 2000’s scene.
the first thing that comes to mind is the band couplet. the old frontman of you blew it! has this electronic project with evan from into it over it. bonus is that they're also a "florida band".
No promises on it fulfilling exactly what you're looking for, but as mentioned a few posts ago, From Indian Lakes put out a new album last year that is wonderful, and he also put out two albums in the last few years under Joe Vann that are great, I'd highly recommend all of it if you aren't into them already.
In Her Arms is a great closer and the twin-sync'd version I think goes even harder. Another great one, slightly spoiled by the phaser/laser sounds on the twin-sync'd version but otherwise a very good track. Agreed. I think for Ixora, Chiromancer is one of my absolute favorites. It has just a little more oomf to it. I love the urgency, I love Steff's verse, love the twin sync'd version as well.
i think the twin album is going to be more of a grower for me. i will need to listen to both of them close. i’m trying to make a pass through all the albums. it seems like the band is just getting better and better with age. loving the synths on blushing (lay here in particular). currently listening for the first time. an old pal of mine, glenn, definitely bit a lot of aaron’s work, and it’s bringing back good memories. i see ixora, blushing, esr, and you are my sunshine all becoming constant rotations over the next few years.
