Ixora Rabbit in the Snare (what's everyone's thoughts on this being loosely Copeland cannon) You Are my Sunshine In Motion Blushing Eat Sleep Repeat Beneath Medicine Tree
You Are My Sunshine Beneath Medicine Tree Eat, Sleep, Repeat In Motion Ixora Blushing Pacifico Split EP YAMS introduced me to Copeland so I'm gonna be a little biased, but I do think that was their highest point. The album with Grey Man, On The Safest Ledge, AND Good Morning Fire Eater just isn't getting topped for me. BMT is an awesome concept album--one of my favorites. Grief mixed with hope makes some good stuff. I learned to appreciate Blushing a lot more after I did a paper on it and had to really scrutinize its lyrics, but Ixora probably gets bumped up because of Twin. I think the Split EP would go above Ixora if there were more tracks; I'm a sucker for that raw and unrefined Copeland sound even if I know it objectively isn't as good. Ev Angel amuses me so much for that reason. At the end of the day it's all great stuff.
I know people have fond memories of it, but BMT is like miles below the rest of the band’s output for me.
Walking Downtown is fun but it doesn't clearly fit with the concept the album's going for and can get grating after so many listens. Still love it but I will admit its faults. Go listen to the Ev Angel version if you're ever looking to appreciate the current one more. If we're talking about stuff we don't care for: Thanks to You.
I guess it has the same problem my friend had with The Suitcase Song (which I do not agree with) in that it feels like it drags on without building onto itself very much. Not So Tough Found Out does that too but I'll cut it some slack since it wasn't even intended to be a Copeland track. It's good background music which is what it was supposed to be. I don't hate Thanks to You but I skip it when I can.
That’s fair, it does get repetitive. I just like the acoustic intro, it fits right in with IM and ESR so well. I won’t hear anything bad about The Suitcase Song, that is a top tier track I never heard that about Not So Tough Found Out, what’s the story about that? I love that one too, I’m a sucker for long, epic album closers
From what I remember of an interview, it was originally created to be played at an art exhibit. Each different area you would go to would have a different portion of the song playing. If you went through again, the portions played in each area would swap, so it would be a unique and everchanging experience. I don't remember the exact interview that was from but I'll try finding it.
ESR Ixora BMT IM YAMS Blushing but that 2-5 section could shuffle depending on the day, weather, and mental state
wow ESR first?! There isn’t really a wrong answer with this band but surprising. Was that the first album you got into from them?
