Only had about 12 people at the VIP tonight. Kinda sad. It sold out here (30 max, I think) very quickly last time. But then again, that was the first tour since the hiatus.
he said tonight he may come back before the end of the tour. quote of the night: “thanks for shouting song titles. we’re probably just gonna play what we had planned.” this was an excellent show. wouldn’t have minded a few more songs off this album.
Show last night rules. Stephen is back too! Some changes to the set from what I’ve seen posted: Love Affair instead of Safer on an Airplane No One Really Wins instead of Choose the One Who Loves You More
Also VIP was also a great experience. Aaron was super friendly and took song requests/answered questions. Talked about how deeply personal Blushing is to him and how it took so long to write because of how much was going on in his life and how hard it was to write while it was all going on. Skywriter was written in two days and was one of the first songs made for the record. He also mentioned that World Turn was recorded super fast and that the sax was laid down so fast on it that Bryan was sad he missed the recording of it completely haha Songs I remember from that: Take Care California Have I Always Loved You? Chin Up Brightest Hold Nothing Back A few were requested that he couldn’t remember. I requested What Do I Know? And he said he couldn’t and felt really bad. All in all VIP was easily worth it.
I’d be happy with any setlist but damn I was really looking forward to Choose the One Who Loves You More. That’s my favorite on IM and generally one of my favorite Copeland songs period. But I mean, like I said, they could play any selection of songs from their catalog and I’d be thrilled.
Listening to Ixora again, I think Blushing has overtaken it for me. Both are so good. But man Blushing is on repeat. At least once a day.
I was jamming Copeland at work and the following day my co-worker comes up to me and tells me you got me hooked. He loves Lay Here y'all.. made my day.
This was a fantastic show. Many Rooms sounded great, but we’re a little boring to me. FIL was great though the vocal mix should have been a bit louder. Copeland as amazing, wish the new songs were tracked as they are played here. Popes backing track got messed up so Aaron took a crowd request and played a song called California, wasn’t familiar with the song but it was raaaad
