I think Ixora has higher highs and is more consistent. I love a lot of this album but there's also a few moments across the album that don't work for me which can't really be said for their last 3/4 albums.
I'm in the minority here, but Ixora didn't really hook me in the way that Blushing did, or the way that In Motion and You Are My Sunshine did when they came out. It must be an every other record thing for me with them because Beneath Medicine Tree, Eat Sleep Repeat, and Ixora aren't my favorites.
I agree with a lot of your points. Ixora wasn't as immediate for me as Blushing but once it stuck, it became one of my favorites in their discography.
just hit play on the stereo confidential episode on Ixora.. have a feeling I'm going to be very angry at moments during this haha. I don't know why they chose to do a full discog review of this band, they don't seem to like any of the records other than YAMS.
Well that one is my favorite so I can't hate on them for that but that still doesn't mean the rest of their discography isn't fantastic.
LoL im listening now, and prepared for it. still discussing the grammys.. lol may just ff through this.
That whole series has been awful, I'm glad I stopped listening when I did. I truly don't know why they even bothered
I listened to a couple and didnt understand why theyre doing a review of Copeland.... it doesnt sound like any of them had ever really listened to them before and they certainly didnt seem to enjoy their albums... why spend all that time?
They don’t like the band haha, they shit on every record that isn’t yams... also all their info is wrong. Like they just get obvious facts wrong.
Now I feel bad for posting the link to the podcast lol. I assumed anything Copeland related would be a good thing and was hoping for a more positive series leading up to Blushing
It's just 3 people who clearly don't like the band all that much, or that haven't really listened to them all much, doing a "deep" dive. Which is fine, I'm no Copeland superfan by any means it just feels like a forced labor that isn't sparking anything all that interesting.
the podcast makes 2 positive references to post-hiatus Fall Out Boy albums in the first 30 minutes. so....yea....
Saying that Ixora was purposefully stripped down for twin. They had the release date for blushing wrong. No mention of the in motion remaster. There were others in the early episodes that I can’t really remember right now.
Was about to come in here and say that the stereo confidential pod on Ixora made me so mad. Even the dude that likes the record shits on it and their takes are reaaaaslly bad.
