I love the abrupt transition between suddenly and night figures so much. Appreciate it a little more every time I listen.
The hooks on this are something else. Like Lay Here reminds me of No Answers by Thursday in that the layers under the hook feel like they have a physical effect on me
I've already mentioned it myself, but it really is one of my very favorite things on the album. Listening to Night Figures a bunch before the album released made it even more surreal. It feels so different in the context of the album. That intro never struck me as dark, but hearing it come right out of Suddenly gives it an extra weightiness.
Second that, like I said as well, some sounds leave me with a feeling like they acquire different shapes, or like the music air brushes your ears hahh
no devolución is a pretty solid comparison point for this record actually. they don't sound exactly the same but they both sound like weird dreamy dimensionally-warped versions of the bands that made them
fun fact: i listened to my first Copeland album ever about 3 weeks ago. i've gone through their discography and enjoyed it immensely (haven't listened to Ixora yet though, kept going back to the other albums). gonna open a bottle of scotch and jam this for the first time tonight
It excites me for your sake that you haven’t listened to Ixora yet. That’ll be a nice album to finish on.
I’ve been debating creating a whiskey thread (didn’t see one last time I searched). I’m big into bourbon and rye.
