that whole song is an actual dream Aaron had, so it sort of works for me thinking about it from that perspective.
the Young Summer lp from 2014 is awesome. Fantastic vocalist. Love the guitar tones, stylistically it isn't as up my wheelhouse as some things but I def enjoy it, and some of it reminds me of a happier version of this record.
Didn't get a chance to listen to this until this morning but wowwwwwwwww it's great. Definitely get the dream-like vibes you all are feeling. Need to listen again and give it my full attention but As Above, Suddenly, Colorless, and Waltz really stood out on first listen. Also they showed the vinyl on their IG story and I want it now.
That sudden transition from Suddenly into Night Figures is so jarring and haunting. It’s weird to say a transition might be my favorite moment on an album but that’s up there.
I haven't heard this yet and won't until it officially comes out, but I want to hearken back to the previous discussion and say that I truly don't think this band has a bad album. BMT has moments/songs that haven't aged super well, but it's still a fun album. And I got into them before Ixora dropped, so that's not nostalgia talking!
i blind-bought the Ixora preorder after hearing Ordinary, my first and only Copeland song at the time. i knew it was gonna be special even though i had never heard anything else. spent the next few months listening to all their old stuff before Ixora. that was a very good blind-buy on my part.
I always tell people that Copeland isn’t my all-time favorite band, but I’m not sure I can think of a band with a more consistently great discography from start to finish.
I feel bad because I haven't given this a super dedicated listen. It's been on in the background and I've been through it maybe two times. That said, I'll give it that attention it deserves because I've loved everything this band has ever done BUT I'm not immediately taken with it. I just wonder if I still like Copeland in 2019
Its alright, there will be many negative takes and that’s fine. I actually don’t think this record is for everyone. I love it a ton but I could see why some people wouldn’t be into it.
I absolutely agree. You just don’t see it coming is why I find it jarring. It’s part of why i love it.
Love this! Quite interesting, especially when Aaron said in that Labeled podcast special that he's not as good live. Wish they'd play in the UK but I'm not going to hold my breath.
On Your Worst Day is my favourite I think god this is one of the best produced albums I have fucking heard
