still processing everything from my listen last night. this is a special one on so many levels and layers.
Introduced my girlfriend to Copeland just months ago and she’s loving this record; probably the strongest reaction to them from her that I’ve seen
I was thinking about this this morning. I would love to fill my library with more albums that sound like this but couldn’t think of anything.
there is no music like this afaict the closest neighbor for me would be like... the early 1975 eps a lot of people i have recommended this to have said it reminds them of rhye but that is, imo, a very limited comparison
i haven't pitched it anywhere and it's extremely unlikely i'll write about it (i've already blown... all of my deadlines this year so far)
The end of Strange Flower is a moment that will stick with me forever. This band sure knows how to write music that moves you.
Yeah, my biggest takeaway from my listen last night is that I’ve never heard anything that quite sounds like this.
It doesn’t reach the same heights in quality, but I think you could argue that Polyneso has sorta been exploring a similar sound? It’s more poppy tho.
I still haven't heard this album yet but I fucking love Rhye. Their album last year is incredibly gorgeous.
So I emailed benchmark Merchandizing and they said we should be getting our records this week and that the rumors are incorrect about it being delayed...so yay?
okay a few repeated lyrical lines/imagery Lying at your feet or crumbling at your feet I think I'm going crazy/am i crazy? then later in the record "I know I may be crazy" (not exact lyrics) just a few interesting repeated ideas I've noticed. Not really sure of their meaning yet.
