I feel like people in this thread are getting chosen at random for an early listen of the new album, told not to tell anyone how they’re listening, and then reporting back in this thread with what they’ve heard. I hope I’m next.
I just added the Young Summer album from 2014, is that the only one she has? Her fb says new album soon!
She has some EPs as well - great stuff! "Fever Dream" EP was on Noisetrade at one point...not sure if it's still there.
how does as above so alone have so much space with so much going on, there’s a guitar arpeggio there’s piano, tberes synth flourishes, there’s a random piano line blaring in one speaker, all on top of a great drum and bass rhythm section and it sounds incredible. Love how the different layers come in and out. That song is a true accomplishment damn.
Can’t wait to dive into this with some good headphones or on my home system. Cow pastures and cotton fields of rural south and north carolina made an interesting backdrop for my first few listens.
Gonna stay up late to dive into this Thursday night Stoked to become obsessed with Copeland for the first time
I'm trying to keep my expectations in check but the hype around this album is making that hard. I didn't think Copeland would top the feeling I had listening to Ixora for the first time but it looks like Blushing might change that.
it was a term coined by a dude that writes for The Wire magazine (also writes novels btw) and it referred to a very specific moment in time where lo-fi, psychedelic home recordings were becoming a thing and they had this really dreamy quality to them and a bunch of artists started to do weird pop music based on that sound Ariel Pink, Animal Collective and Washed Out were the big names Hypnagogic pop - Wikipedia
