The new song is great and an instant pre-order. Copped the Wheel of Pain variant from the Deathwish store.
put in a preorder for the Chaos Reigns variant. didn't have LINE yet, so the standard Pale Ale variant will come with that in July (hopefully before street date, since my birthday is 7/15 - two days before then)
Not to question Jacob's artistic decisions, but I'm not sure I understand why the official artwork is the 'just the waveform' version when that silkscreen wrap artwork incorporates it and is super rad (and like, more on-brand for the band). Anyway, song whips ass, very excited for this one, cannot believe we're getting more than one record this year.
From what I've read, it's moreso Thomas Hooper art inspired by Bannon's ideas? However the actual artwork we're all loving seems to be really neat, I can't wait to see how he releases, I assume 5 separate prints, one for each element (like we saw with the Decibel/Revolver covers) and a larger print with them all.
I honestly doubt it, album rollout prints are usually aplenty and I wouldn't be surprised if he releases single individual prints of the faces at a later date. They're obviously SOME already printed as the Revolver/Decibel variants are a perfect example. Usually the limited prints he'll list the number too....like I have some prints that are unnumbered and others that list 102/200 or 40/150. This listing doesn't have a number so I'm sure there's a lot, it will be up until it sells out.
the two-album strategy and the just-OK-ness of LINE makes me feel like they recorded slightly more material than usual and just spread every scrap of it over two short records rather than whittling down to one killer album like they normally would in order to double their take and design/sell more merch. I get it though, it's a tough biz and getting rougher.
Still haven't listened to Love Is Not Enough and will probably just wait and do both back to back. I like that it's not a double album, it's just two in the same calendar year. I kinda wish some artists did more stuff like that, last one I can think of was Portrayal of Guilt. Even just going "we put out the new album last year, but here's all the b sides too" or something like that.
Saw them last night and they were fucking amazing. Just mindblowingly talented. Honestly kind of ate PTW’s lunch as the headliner, they were fun but did not sound as good as converge.
I'm kinda thinking about hitting one of the Texas dates. Thankfully those dates will have The Armed and Barbarians of California opening. Crazy stacked lineup for the second half of the tour.
That leg of the tour is absurd, I'm so jealous. Missed the Chicago date of this tour but frankly I've seen PTW like three times in the last year and a half and I'm kinda banking on Converge either touring Hum of Hurt or playing Riot.
closest date of that tour for me is tomorrow but it’s almost 2 hours away and i just couldn’t swing it. Converge on the AWLWLB tour in 2012 still one of the best shows i’ve ever seen. 29 songs, almost 2 and a half hour set. Nuts
