No 10 women for us last night. Or Four Winds which every other show gets. They did sound pretty good, his lead guitar player is awesome. There was a couple minutes when they left the stage where the houselights did not come up yet and it looked like guitars were getting prepped, etc. Aaaand then the lights went up.
feel sad for him sometimes. thats a bummer to hear. i would kill to see him and phoebe do lua live in person.
Don't get me wrong, some parts of the show, including that one, was amazing. Just seems like he got burnt out towards the end of the set.
He was doing a funny bit during the extended guitar tuning struggle: *extremely Dad voice* "Son...you should tune your guitar tonight." *extremely Conor voice* "No! I'm an asshole and I don't care!" *extremely Dad voice* "Son......you gotta tune."
Love it. Last time I saw him, he covered a Neil Young song. While introducing it, he said something like "Now I'm gonna play a Neil Young song. I found out about him though my interest in electric cars." When he played "Map of the World," he said "I'm gonna cover a Monster's of Folk song. Those guys are real assholes." The deadpan sarcasm is the best.
rockaways is stellar. think i heard no one's gonna change live too much to appreciate the studio version.
Thank you for reminding me that MoF is one of my favorite albums ever. It's been years since I've listened to it.
The Rockaways is so damn good. there are moments in the verses that remind me of another Conor song but I can't place it YET
Better Oblivion Community Center got me to spin this tonight. First listen in a year or so. This album is great, better than I initially thought upon its realease. I know the critiques are too long and bloated but I love this. Anyone else a fan of Salutations?
For me, Salutations is tied with Upside Down Mountain (if you throw in the b-sides 'Standing On The Outside Looking In' & 'Sugar Street') as my favorite things he has ever done. Between those two albums and now BOCC, I am really just on the same wavelength as what he is putting out lately.
Yes 17 songs is a long album. But I think it works here the sequencing and pacing on this record is great considering how long it is.
