Lifted, fevers and mirrors, I'm wide awake, read music/speak Spanish, probably Ruminations I think. Only really lifted and fevers are set in stone though
He added some more tour dates, and there's finally something near me haha. I'll be at the Clifton Park show!

Really enjoyed seeing his show a couple weeks ago. Was the first time I saw him live and he did not disappoint.
You've never gotten into his post Bright Eyes work? If Wide Awake's your favorite, there should be at least three albums that you love.
Probably because last time he was here people were acting like heathens. Girls yelling at him the whole time for Lifted songs, someone through a bra on stage. He's 37 for crying out loud.
Oh, I've listened to everything of his, but those remain my favorite. My main issue with the 5 solo albums is that I feel like there's less diversity, a lot of it sounds the same overall, but still tons of great stuff of course. The Desaparecidos albums almost made my cut as well. Monsters of Folk is a great album, but I don't love it all the way through the same way as the BE albums.
I think a lot of his best Bright Eyes albums suffer from inconsistency. Most of the time it's the kind where the highs are so high that even the good doesn't measure up, and sometimes those good songs can feel like filler next to these flash in the pan, flat out brilliant songs. The good thing though is that those good songs reveal themselves on subsequent listens. His solo stuff is way more consistent, more consistently good than inconsistently incredible. This is just my opinion though and how I feel going through his stuff
Today I realized that "Don't Know When But A Day's Gonna Come" is one of his worst. Like, real bad. Real b
It's not a song I like to visit often. The lyrics are really drab, some of his most obvious and most pretentious. I mean, I understand that it fits with Lifted's themes and such but...it hammers in the point that a lot of the other songs tell way better. It also ruins the end of Bowl of Oranges and that makes me very sad.
I think I agree it's obvious, but I think I could go either way on whether I think it's pretentious. I think a plainspoken song like that is pretty interesting in the context of Lifted because it's so heavily contrasted with the rest of the songs but I definitely understand what you mean and where you're coming from
Conor Oberst – Oregon Zoo – Portland, OR – September 3rd, 2017 I have not really listened to Conor in several years, but I'm definitely going to this so I'll have to catch up.
I'm coming around to this album. Can totally see why he'd make it after Ruminations... I wouldn't want to tour behind that ish after what he went through.
Is it wrong that I reordered Salutations into the Ruminations order and then tacked the extra tracks on as a bonus disc? Ruminations absolutely wrecked me, and merely see this album as a "bonus" with an extra EP... sort of like all of the random stuff Bright Eyes released through the years in between albums and so forth.
Got a kinda weak show from him last night. 15ish songs, no encore (looking at setlist.fm every other show had one). He seemed pretty out of it and took like 5 minutes to tune his guitar for the last song. He was also like drunkenly leaning on Phoebe while she was playing Lua and she seemed kind of annoyed.
looking at setlists.. He plays 10 women at shows?? thats awesome... sorry your set was short but it does look like hes been playing a nice mix of things.. did they at least sound good?
