These were in the background of my last post but it's Final Fantasy's 35th birthday in the US so here's an irresponsible number of FF soundtracks/adjacent CDs Definitely none of these are unofficial releases please don't look too closely at the catalog numbers
Won a nice MP lot off eBay (self titled was the one I wanted most) Seller has tons more for sale https://ebay.us/m/e1oFPt
I have a cheap Phillips micro hifi system from the later 00s, when my mom gave it me when I moved out in like 08. It sounds solid enough for what it is (I grew up sharing earbuds and listening to 00s rap mixtapes, so I’m not a hardcore audiophile) but the CD player has been making a lot of noise since like 2010, so I hardly ever use it for CDs (I do sometimes use it to listen to vinyl records, via the record player that is hooked up to it). Anyway, it didn’t really bother me, but now that my car stereo (which was excellent) doesn’t work anymore, it has started to bother me because I have now no proper way to play my CDs. So last week I ordered a Denon RCD-M41 (which apparently is like the best micro system around these days) and matching speakers. I was underwhelmed (it also didn’t property amplify my record player, unlike the cheap Phillips), and it was like €460 in total (which for me is meaningful right now), so I sent it all back. I figure I will put together my own system for the same price at some point. I have now dug up a Sony D-140 discman that still works and ordered a cord to hook it up to my Phillips system. If it sounds solid enough I’m gonna order an RCA Switch so I don’t have to unplug the record player. Maybe a Bluetooth receiver too (though maybe not since my little Bluetooth speaker is fine for that). The cord and the RCA Switch cost me like €30 combined and both can be used in the future. Figured this is a cheap way to kick the can down the road. Sharing just to share because my wife doesn’t wanna hear it anymore.
Yeah plus this one is so old (95 I think) that it was still kind of a premium product so I have some hopes. I looked it up too, it’s not very easy to find and I saw a working one go for £180.
Got the cord just now. The discman sounds great! So awesome. I like to imagine it must be so hyped to be back in the game.
Finally looking at that sale in earnest and the first two Tasha records are $2 and $5 for CD/LP respectively. Everyone should buy a copy of both of them.
Have been a little anxious so I hit up some used record stores last week. Sadly the Ahmad Jamal one doesn’t really work all that well, I think the center hole is a little too big or something.
I have heard that Nora Jones record a million times as a teenager working in the family restaurant. I never owned it though and seeing it again (and now hearing it again) gave me so much nostalgia. Great record too.
Interesting article on the Discogs main page related to someone moving from CDs to vinyl, etc.: https://www.discogs.com/digs/featur...um=Discogs&utm_campaign=Vinylogue-SRZ_Feature
