Just finding this thread! Avid CD collector here. These are my two most collectible discs. We have a limited run Japanese SMH-CD of American Idiot. Also the only release of American Idiot that came in a Digipack instead of a jewel case. Below is Nonstop Feeling which I paid way too much for but still got a good deal at around $70.
Any recommendations on where to make a singular boot that looks professional? There’s a few albums that have never been released on CD that i’d like to have for my personal collection.
I’m so glad you asked! I’ve done this quite a few times as well and have used Kunaki.com. Pretty okay quality printing wise, pretty good sound wise, super cheap, and you can order 1 at a time and reorder on demand. You can either do a sleeve with no insert or jewel case (black hinge piece) with one front/back insert. Here’s some samples:
One of my all time favorites! That last EP they did is still in my constant rotation. Used to see them and All the Day Holiday all the time back in the day.
My unsolicited 2c on CDs and vinyl: CDs are just lossless digital audio files on a disc. But you get album art, lyrics, and something tangible, which rules. I'm happy enough to buy most releases digitally (esp if they're on Bandcamp), but when it's available, I'll go for a $12-15 CD over a $10 download. Both are vastly preferable to vinyl, which I view as a novelty/collectible whose value has little to do with actually listening. Think my CD collection going back to the late 90s is around 300, and I have them all ripped as FLAC files.
Selling my entire collection, figured it would be a good place to post. Over 100 CDs, a lot of rarities, hard to find stuff. Started the bidding at 150 for anyone interested! https://ebay.us/m/aT751e
