It should be illegal to allow people like me to just go on Discogs and buy things. Just bought like 40 CDs. I don't know how much longer they're going to be cheap so I'm taking advantage now. Time to sell a few records I guess.
Yeah, I have no evidence to back this up besides my own sense of intuition, but I feel like CD’s will not stay this cheap forever. I feel like the tide of vinyl being so expensive will drive the CD market back up for those who like physical media. Tomorrow, I’m being gifted a CD collection from a friend. Hundred’s of CD’s, so speaking of CD’s being for sale, keep an eye out on this thread shortly.
Bands are selling them at shows again too. I personally enjoy tapes but it will be interesting to see if the CD resurgence has any lasting power.
Yeah tapes felt like a big novelty. It made sense for the time but practically, no one has tape players in their car. A lot of people still have that. It is also a fraction of the cost of vinyl. If you’re a teen with 20 bucks at a show, you can pick up a CD and like a couple stickers and probably can’t afford the vinyl
Combo tape and CD players are very popular right now. I just picked one up (see pic above) and I also have a walk man that plays tapes. Both are blue tooth compatible.
I think I need to disconnect my credit card from whatnot. I bought 38 CDs this week. I clearly do not have the necessary impulse control.
Yeah I think I'm fully out on buying new vinyl until the prices normalize. Why would I buy a new record when I could get 10 used CDs for the same price? Or even a new CD for 1/3 of the price of a record.
It’s funny. My band sells more cassettes than anything else. But for our new album, we made CDs, tapes, and vinyl. So we’ll see what sells best once that’s out.
I think the "kids" are still buying cassettes, but they're slowly coming around to CDs. Especially now that they're cheaper.
Looking at Taylor Swift’s new album pre-order, it’s so weird that the cassette costs more than the CD, and the tape doesn’t even come with the poster.
Yeah it's weird like a year ago it flipped and tapes became more expensive than CDs. They used to be so cheap!
CD players with clear windows are becoming more popular, so maybe that will inspire people to be more creative with the disc art.
I reset mine up recently aaaaaand the CD player doesn't work lol luckily the cassette deck and radio still work!
