It’s more of a thing I love that I never thought I’d get more of. if the movie isn’t great, I still have the show. If it’s fun, then it’s another Community thing I can enjoy. Either way, it’s exciting to see it finally happen.
I think both 5 and 6 are top 3 seasons. The show is weirder and the characters are more desperate and in more interesting places in their lives. 2=5=6>3>1>4
I just don't think the show gets that great until Harmon let's it get real weird with homages to other pop culture. Most of season 1 just felt like a typical NBC sitcom to me
Yeah this is it Even when 1 is "normal" and not super weird yet it's still a really funny show with a lot of heart pretty much right off the bat. Don't forget that the one where Abed makes the movie about his parents is pretty early on
I agree with that ranking but I maintain that the first half of season 5 up until the MeowMeowBeans episode is the strongest sustained run of the entire series. The back half kinda shits the bed though. The GI Jeff episode gets worse every time I’ve rewatched it
The front half is definitely stronger, but I honestly really enjoy Basic Story and Basic Sandwich. GI Jeff is by far the weakest episode of the season, probably of the last two seasons. Which is a shame, because Jeff accepting that he’s aging and making a career at greendale is one of my favorite elements of the show.
Also, I was jumping through season 2 and got to the finale last night and was super confused how I had overlooked the D&D episode in my viewing. After scrolling through season 2 a couple times I remembered they pulled it a bit back now because of chang painting himself a dark color. Fortunately, I have the DVD’s of s1-3 so I can watch it soon. It really shows how deep of a villain Pierce really was that season.
This made me go look to see how cheap I could get s4-6 on dvd to own all of it finally. 4 and 5 were fairly cheap, but 6 is like $35+. So I looked for a complete series set and found both dvd and Blu-ray on sale though a third party through Walmart. $28 Blu-ray and $21 DVD. I snagged the Blu-ray and I got free shipping. Not bad.
Oh. I’m on Netflix. Didn’t realize it was on Prime. Good to know as my Netflix ends in like 5 days and I’m keeping Prime.
