I forget what Dan said to talk shit, I thought I remember him crediting the writer and complimenting it as a brilliant script?
He doesn't say anything horrible, but it occasionally takes jabs. He points out stuff like how they repeat story beats in the first act, and at the end he asks if they can all hang out while he goes to his office to punch it up. It's all pretty innocent stuff, but when I went to wiki and saw he didn't even write it, it felt like a weird thing to do
I think it's even more innocent than that. Remember that even when he isn't a head writer on an episode, he still is part of the writer's room and the writing process. He's definitly poking fun at himself and the writers as a whole, not the head writers of he episode
Yeah, I do understand the critique, but more goes into the writing of a show than the main credited writer. It's a collaborative process that the whole staff works on and Dan does a lot to steer his writers into the story-telling style he wants the show to be in. As far as I know, S4 kept the same writing staff as in prior seasons, but was still hot garbage without Dan's direction
Dan has been very vocal about the fact his shows (and most network sitcoms tbh) are sort of written by the room as a whole and the name they put on each episode is arbitrary. And it definitely feels like everything on the show is filtered through him.
The commentary tracks for the first few seasons are full of Dan picking his own show apart lol, it's nothing new for him
The scene in the Honda episode where Frankie tears the Dean apart has got the be the funniest part of season 6.
I think "5 CANS!?" and probably some moments from Garrett's Wedding might have an edge over that one for me, but it's very close haha
Just finished my rewatch on Netflix. Damn, that finale really nailed it. "I farted during the fourth 'cool'. It's an inside joke."
Happened to finish my rewatch last night. Love this show. It's probably been mentioned before, but I totally forgot about Justin Roiland showing up in the finale as ice cube head lol.
Lol I'd love a running tally of how many times I've watched this show, P&R, B99, The Office, and Sunny. Deeefinitely a lot
Yeah, with sitcoms I'll watch over and over, but I don't think I've ever watched a movie more than twice
the only show I've really rewatched in full is Friends because I watch an episode before bed and they air it chronologically, too many shows I still need to see to rewatch faves
Yeah that's probably one of the few shows where I've seen every episode on cable a couple times instead of streaming without missing any. Possibly Fresh Prince as well, but not 100% sure
I've never watched a whole series more than twice but I've seen episodes 3-4 times for various reasons
That fascinates me, honestly. I've watched this and Parks about 6-7 times each, and I think I've ran through Arrested Development about 14 times over the years.
They got Pedro Pascal on the podcast this week Wonder if Donald will do a solo episode, what excuse does he have not to lol
