I saw the clip with Danny where they acted like it was a chore for him to be on and then hung up on him lmao.
Yeah, was listening to one of those yesterday. Thought that the pod had corrupted or something because it went silent. Definitely doesn’t work that great without the visual!
Rewatching this for the first time in years since it's on Netflix, and the Day of the Dead episode is where the show really starts to come into its own. What a great episode.
Alison on the podcast this week! Haven't listened yet though so not sure if it's a short appearance like Danny and Gillian
Very close to watching season 4 again for the first time since it aired. I only remember liking Herstory of Dance and the Freaky Friday episode. Maybe now that the dust has settled on the Harmon situation, I can just watch these episodes for what they are and not overly scrutinize them for not being Community.... Is it still that bad?
It's still bad, I tried to be open minded but ehhh. That puppet one is so bad especially. Inspector Space Time convention, Halloween, and Freaky Friday weren't awful. Actually, I rather enjoy the Halloween one.
The thing with season 4 is the writers are the same, so they know the characters and how to write them. But there's something that Harmon adds to the show, that I can't put my finger on, that was severely missing from 4.
Oh I completely agree. The premiere was dark, but it setup for a really solid season. Even more controversial opinion time: I think 2 and 6 are the best seasons of the show period
completely agree with this take first half of 5 is up there with the very best of the show, but it runs out of steam pretty hard. last two episodes are just not funny to me
Yeah I think the premiere, GI Jeff, and the two part finale were pretty "meh" but even those have some solid jokes in there. Otherwise, love the whole season. The whole "Richie has psychic powers" storyline cracks me the fuck up in the finale lol "... I WAS thinking of a hang glider..."
there are some good jokes for sure. the Richie/Chang B-story is funnier by far than the A-story with the hidden part of the campus, which is never a great sign also I love the premiere, it's great THAT SON OF A BITCH! AFTER EVERYTHING SCRUBS DID FOR HIM!
here's a take i have that might be really fucking out there but it just makes sense to me and hopefully to anyone else who thinks about it for more than a moment: community should've ended after four full seasons. more specifically, nbc should've not only renewed it for a fourth and final, but also (goes without saying) left dan on as showrunner and kept all the writers that were on board by that point. make it twentysomething episodes so the network can re-air/re-syndicate the show elsewhere. donald stays, yvette stays, chevy stays. most importantly, harmon never gets derailed from the momentum he had with the first three. speaking of, this hypothetical 4th season would've in all likelihood fixed much of whatever bugs people had with the 3rd season, adding to what might've made it superior overall. and the knowledge that this was the last ride they'd have would make the creatives kick everything into high gear so community would conclude on the strongest note they could muster
It's pretty wild how we're supposed to take Abed seriously as a film guy when he likes Cougar Town and season 9 of Scrubs lmao
I think it’s insane to say season 5 is better than season 2 but it’s definitely in contention to be better than 3 (also the last two episodes of season 5 are good and the G.I. Jeff episode is one of the show’s worst)
This is great. I can't imagine working those kind of hours though, God. I can see how Donald would get burnt out by that after awhile. Still always crazy to think that those two episodes are what got the Russo's hired at Marvel to go on to direct the biggest films in the entire MCU
See i enjoy GI Jeff not because it’s funny or even good but i think Jeff‘s journey to accept his place in Greendale is really a brilliant part of the show, and him dealing with getting older is a component of that. there’s a scene in s6 where elroy calls him a young man and Jeff smiles and says “I’m 40” that i think about and laugh at pretty regularly lol also i think basic story and basic sandwich are really good episodes. Def better finales than s3 or s4. The cast feels so in sync by the end of the series. Hickey saying “if i have to come over there, there’s going to be two sounds - me hitting you, twice” is one of my favorite line readings in the series lol
Was gonna start this for the first time, but ended up starting Superstore instead. Will watch this after unless I start Justified.
I'll definitely have to check it out, I agree she's wicked funny. I wish they got Danny and her on at the same time, they're so weird and funny together from a lot of BTS scenes I've seen and interviews
