According to something I remember reading years ago at the time, it was very much a 'let's be civil, end on a good note' kind of thing. Plus an easy cash job for Chevy, and a cool unexpected cameo for the fans. Win win.
Chevys a twat but he was still a massive part of the show in its prime. They all played off him so well, and even though Donald leaving was a bigger deal, Pierce would still feel like a missing piece
I think if this movie / reunion ever came to fruition, Harmon's script would have acknowledgement of Pierce. I doubt Chevy would come back for a cameo for like a flashback scene, but he'd be used in some way. They could even visit Pierce's grave or something, haha.
Also sidenote: I still put random episodes on from time to time, and my fiance (who's never watched it) always comments things like "Oh, it actually has a lot of heart and deeper stuff...it's not really a comedy sometimes." and the other day she said the claymation Christmas episode was like an adult version of Peanuts. Very sweet, but about how different personalites come together to support each other. I agree with her. This show has underrated and underappreciated heart and messages about human connection.
Seasons 5 and 6 of this show were fantastic so I definitely don't need Pierce, and while Troy would be awesome to have back, the show has proven that it can be good without him.
I’m rewatching the show now and it’s insane how many episodes have Chevy in the cold open and then he just goes off and does something completely different from everyone else in some z-plot that was clearly filmed in less than a day
They definitely shouldn't do the movie if they can't get Donald at ALL, even a shorter cameo. Troy's voyage is the ONLY loose end that the finale leaves basically
Not 100% sure if it's true because I don't listen to the podcast but apparently on Harmontown Dan said that Donald actually showed up to the cast dinner after the reunion event and surprised them, and that he was going to try to surprise them at the panel itself but his flight didn't line up Love it
Getting a burger and That’s Just The Way It Is started playing. Can’t not imagine Pierce doing his Greendale song
It was in some of those fadeout endings with music playing that this show shined the most. That, and lots of other things about it.
I think the Law and Order, Asscrack Bandit, and Chicken Fingers episodes were the best this show has ever done
My top 5 are: 1. Critical Film Studies 2. Early 21st Century Romanticism 3. Environmental Science 4. Paradigms Of Human Memory 4. Basic Intergluteal Numismatics This was hard, but I think I'm happy with it.
I really suck at remembering names of this show, specifically, but Troy's 21st birthday/alcohol episode is my all-time favourite. Remedial Chaos Theory, Cooperative Calligraphy, the Chicken Fingers ep and Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television would round out a top 5
yeah true. so worth it to see Jeff absolutely destroy Corddry's character in the first episode of s1 though
