I actually liked the Yahoo seasons. Nowhere close to the quality of the first three (two) seasons, but sure as fuck beats that Harmonless season. Really liked Jonathon Banks, Padget Brewster and Keith David.
Season 6 is actually the only Yahoo season. Season five was when NBC surprise renewed it again and also surprise brought back Dan Harmon. I agree season six starts out rough, but I love where it goes and certainly how it ends. Still remember going into the finale being initially unsure if this was going to be the end and within the first minute being like “oh no” as the tears readied themselves.
I think the first seven episodes of season 5 are one of the best runs of the show, then it takes a nosedive. 6 is rough but the karate kid ep and the last three eps are great.
s5 starts fantastic (first five or six) then crashes hard post-Troy s6 starts rough (first three or maybe three) and is fantastic from there till the end
The show definitely suffers with no Troy. There's not much for Abed to do it seems. Even not having Shirley is noticeable. I'll continue until the end but it's become a slog and I"ll have to break it up with something else instead of powering through like I did for seasons 1-5.
Keith David was incredible in the Garrett's wedding ep "now THIS is a white man who knows how to pour a drink"
The back half of season 6 is as good as anything else in the show’s run, and the finale is probably my favorite finale of any of the half hour comedies from that era (Parks & Rec, 30 Rock, the Office, etc.).
Also all of the cast additions (Jonathan Banks, Keith David, Pageat Brewster) are excellent. I wish they could’ve just killed Chang off or something.
I always say that the fifth and sixth seasons were better than they had any right to be, especially given the circumstances under which they were made.
So was the Parks finale. The tone of season 5 and 6 just seems off compared to 1-4. The whole save Greendale thing is dumb. Would have preferred a better excuse to keep them all together.
Yeah they really nailed that finale. I’m forever grateful to Yahoo for giving them that chance. Even though it definitely contributed to Yahoo TV failing lol.
