What's the best place to buy collected volumes? I have a Barnes and Noble near me, and a local comic shop but both seem overpriced. Is there a good bargain site? EDIT: I want to buy: Hardcover: Secret Wars DC Universe Rebirth Thor: God of Thunder Vol 1: The God Butcher Paperback: Superman Vol 1 (Rebirth) The Flash Vol 1 (Rebirth) Titans Vol 1 (Rebirth) I've been loving this Rebirth stuff so much I actually want to own beautiful copies of them. I may even spring for hardcovers of them all if it's not a drastic price difference.
www.instocktrades.com or www.amazon.com are going to have the best prices. Rebirth trades won't be out for, I'd say, about 9 months. The hardcovers maybe in about four.
Picked up Batman and Robin Eternal vol. 1 and 2 and Batman: Earth One vol. 1 and 2 at the library just now. Going back on a bit of a Gotham/Batman binge before I stop grabbing library books and read the ones I actually bought.
Huge Batman sale on Comixology for those who don't mind reading digitally: Road to Batman Sale! - Comics by comiXology
Wasn't the Silk book that much, too? Seems to be their approach to trades that collect 7 issues. Marvel does have higher cover prices, which can be obnoxious, but I also have better luck finding even newer Marvel trades for super cheap at cons, etc., so I don't really mind, lol.
Been in a New Mutants mood lately, so been giving it a more proper read-through. I'm pretty far into the second Classic trade, which means I'm through the initial graphic novel story and issues 1-13. 4 more before getting to the Sienkiewicz run, which I have in single issues. Though, since the next issue focuses on Magik, I'm making a detour through her miniseries. There's a lot of suspect stuff in this 80s Claremont work, but I just love spending time with these characters. Karma (who's off the team for a while, unfortunately; I wish she were in the Sienkiewicz material), Dani Moonstar, Sunspot, Magik, etc., are all so great.
Gerard Way has me buying my first "floppy" in about 3/4 years today. I seriously have been waiting for him to write a Doom Patrol series since I read Umbrella Academy for the first time, and there is no way I am waiting for the trade for this.
That's why I love Image's business model. It's so easy to get into great books when most #1's are $10. Even DC prices their older books in a great way. Cass Cain trades are $20 and have twelve issues. Love that. Reading American Vampire #8. Man, this book is great but it is getting wayyyy out there. Haha.
It took me until the second trade to really get into it. The subject matter it covers is pretty awesome. It starts in the Wild West and is currently up to the Cold War. There is even a bit of colonialism in there. Just a really fun book.
Jim Cheung has always been great, but wow, I love these pages. I may have to put the Clone Conspiracy mini on my pull, instead of just trade-waiting the event.
