Picked up Red Hood and the Outlaws today and it was better than I was expecting. Also read the free Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad issue that was given out today. I think part of me is just so over the SS hype in general that I'm not super excited for either the movie or comic right now.
That's good to hear about Red Hood, figured I'd grab it too even though I probably won't stick with it.
AHHHHH YESSSS. New Avengers just keeps throwing in New Mutants. I really hope This leads to Bobby getting the whole gang back together. It sucks that Warlock isn't on the cover of USAvengers #1, but hopefully he sticks around. I love the New Mutants so much.
Best Constantine stories to read? The only one I own is the Dangerous Habits arc. Did anyone read Constantine: The Hellblazer by Doyle and Tynion IV?
I really need to check out Batgirl #1. I was pretty lukewarm to BG: The Birds of Prey. The mystery was interesting enough, but something about it felt off story wise. I need to read it again. Am I one of the few people here who trade wait? I love the idea of picking up a serialized story every Wednesday, but I can't afford it and I'm going to North Carolina/Washington in August (Have to find a comic shop to pick up All Star Batman. The art is stunning.).
I read a preview of it, but couldn't get into it. The art was hard to get past because and this isn't my quote, "It looked like an Invader Zim comic." It did for me and it made it hard because I loved the tone of the Keanu Reeves movie, that I want something with that kind of gravity. But I'm assuming his story is a little goofy. The Ray Fawkes/Jeff Lemire Vol.1 of Constantine was pretty good though. It had him be the sarcastic englishman he is and have a good horror story line to it. Worth checking out. Wish Lemire would do the book himself, but he left it in Vol. 2.
Gotcha. I really like Matt Ryan more as Constantine I think. I'll definitely check out the Lemire one. My library has all of the books prior to Dangerous Habits, which is like 5 or 6, so I may just start that from the beginning. A single volume from Lemire is sounding like an easier chunk to start with, though. Thanks!
Was that Constatntine show any good? I saw ten minutes of it and couldn't get over how bad the CGI was. I'll just have to if its worth it. Also, I know he pops up in an episode of Arrow which means I have to play catch up!
I trade wait some stuff. It depends. There's no way I could afford to legally read everything I want to on a monthly basis, and I have no interest in downloading stuff.
Matt Ryan was basically the only good part about the show imo. He was good in Arrow. I wish they would've kept him on it.
Are they completely independent of one another? The trades are going to be separate and I wasn't sure if I should order both.
Yeah, completely separate stories, both characters and the rest of the modern squad are in both though. Katana's takes place a bit before Deadshot's in the timeline. There aren't any obvious connections.
I have yet another question for you wise comic readers. I just bought my first Marvel Masterworks Amazing Spiderman Vol 1! Although it doesn't look how I expected. I'm used to seeing the silver trimming of the Masterworks hardcover books. Mine is tan-ish and Amazing Fantasy 15 on the cover is framed in a gold design. Why is this? Do they still make books that look like that? I'm very confused because I'm very picky about how my shelf looks and literally I'm thinking about already buying a silver one to keep my sanity.
Marvel Masterworks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I don't know what you have so far, but this should give some insight.
Me too! There's too many comics, but DC issues being 2.99 are such a help. Also! Don't know if anyone would be interested, but I'm writing up a Flash #1 review (I know, I'm super late on writing something for that issue. They're already on #3.) and am stoked to share it. Going to try and bang at least 1 every week and 2 when I can.
Look forward to reading it! The Flash IMO is the best book of Rebirth. That book is firing on all cylinders. So far Titans is moving kinda slow, but I have faith in it to be the second best, or tied for second with Superdad. Hope that Wally remains the lead character, or ends up with his own book at some point. I love his new costume.
I've been reading it the first issue more and more, and there's so much to said. it's honestly an incredible issue and I want to be the next two issues, but I'm going to trade wait it because of financial reasons (I know, it's much cheaper than other books out there, but still!) Haven't had a chance to check out Titans! Didn't that just launch? I really want to pick up Batgirl #1 because I was a bit lukewarm to Birds of Prey. Is the Superman stuff that good? Ugh, too many things to pick up.
Finally finished up Alias after taking a long break between volumes 2 and 3. Can't wait for the new series and will definitely be checking out The Pulse soon. Currently going through Immortal Iron Fist since I don't know too much about the character.
Thanks for this. I guess I'll just buy the silver ones from here on out and pray it doesn't give me anxiety when I see the difference between the two books on the shelf
