Casey & Dragotta Debut New Hero In Image's "All-America Comix" lol at this basically being Miss America Chavez's creators re-creating her at Image, but I'm still totally in for this.
I am wondering how this is going to work. I mean, did they talk to Marvel first and try to obtain some sort of permission? If not, are they just banking on Marvel not pursuing legal action? And also, I am pretty sure DC owns the TM for "All-American Comics." Is the creative team hoping to be the first comic sued by both DC and Marvel? As for the actual book, Dragotta is a beast. I am on board.
But it's "All-America Comix," not "All-American Comics"! lol. My guess is that the legal loopholes for parodies apply here, too. Also, I'd imagine Image wouldn't let something happen they could get sued over, right? It's definitely an interesting situation, though. I'm surprised, given the current climate at Marvel and how often Miss America pops up here and there, that she's not getting her own series in the fall. I'd love more Dragotta Marvel work, but maybe he wanted a similar character while remaining creator-owned.
The Avengers: Time Runs Out complete deluxe hardcover came out on InStockTrades.com, so I ordered it and the Secret Wars hardcover. When they arrive, I'll have the complete Hickman Avengers epic in hardcover. YES.
Slightly worried I might not get hughes Betty Veronica cover. Our local store doesn't have preorders but and only hosts reservation one week prior release day ? (So the stocks are fixed for 1st printing and somehow too many people reserve copies) But excited to pick up Snotgirl as well.
Enjoyed Betty vs Veronica a lot. I love it when characters just drown in conversations. This is my first time reading anything by Adam (not even sure if he wrote anything prior to this). The colors were gorgeous. I'm sold. Whoa Snotgirl. Don't want to say anything more but I'm hooked. This might be my favorite comic week since Archie released.
Had to pick up both. Also snagged the Monstress trade. I didn't like the first issue, but it got a ton of praise, so why not.
Sticking with my trend of picking up the Rebirth one shots. Grabbed Hellblazer and Batgirl Birds of Prey today. Also, as an update on my binge reading of Ultimate Spider-Man, I'm on issue 72 Hobgoblin: Part 1. Been loving it so far. I think I really need to dive into Miles Morales after. I bought one digital trade a while ago (before I knew Marvel Unlimited was a thing) and never really picked it up again after.
Loving Ultimate Spiderman as well! Although when reading I developed a lot of questions. Are there only 22 volumes of Ultimate Spiderman? Is this new Amazing Spiderman a reboot or (not sure if I need to tag this LMAO but just in case) Peter being brought back to life and starting again. If it's not a reboot then do I need to get to a certain point in Superior Spiderman before I start Amazing Spiderman, because I'm going to start Vol 5 soon and it doesn't show any indication yet that Peter will be coming back
I thought they showed it pretty early on that Peter was still lingering. You can basically start with Amazing Spider-Man and not really worry.
Yeah they did but it didn't seem like he could actually get out of this one, and I had no idea how he would.
Got Batman 3, Snotgirl, and Birds of Prey Rebirth (mainly because I don't want to wait another damn week for my batgirl fix!) EDIT: Damn, just now realizing I meant to get New Suicide Squad too...Thinking they must not have had it because I perused the new releases p good. another edit: Just read the SS issue online and it was really good. It's all in Harley's mind so I'd recommend it if you like her.
I loved Birds of Prey Rebirth. I agree that the faces look weird (and really bad from some angles) but the story is already pretty damn interesting and the rest of the art looks pretty good. Batman's still really good, glad to learn more about Gotham and Gotham Girl, I think I'll need another issue to see if Snotgirl is for me.
The October Previews solicitations apparently proved what was already known: Extraordinary X-Men, All-New X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men 92, All-New Wolverine, and Old Man Logan aren't ending. And yet, I can't really bring myself to care? Controversial opinion: Marvel should go further with what they're doing. Give some characters solo titles and put others in more non-X-Men team books. And then condense to just one ongoing series with a good, experienced writer like Gail Simone.
Got Snotgirl (just 1 cover), Betty & Vernonica, and the Scarlet Witch trade. Wanted the Monstress trade too, but they didn't have it. To Amazon for that.
