It's the first volume of a little series called Fresh Romance; one-offs written/drawn by some cool creators. First thing I've ever kickstarted actually. My second thing to kickstart was an less-appropriate webcomic because I wanted to support the creator and I've read most of it haha.
I've only Kickstarted one thing as well but it was a comic too. Tiny publisher called Comixtribe for a comic called The Red Ten(which is a superhero retelling of And Then There Were None) and I've really enjoyed the way he writes and the transparency he shows when running the publisher is really awesome to see!
It's definitely a bit rougher than other publishers but I think the artwork is great and like I said I love Tyler James' writing style. Here's a link if your interested: THE RED TEN : ComixTribe Or if digital is your thing: The Red Ten Digital Comics - Comics by comiXology
The novel is a pretty quick read, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's probably my 2nd favorite book after To Kill A Mockingbird
No it's gonna finish, they are just pretty slow and inconsistent with the release. Like I said, they are a very tiny publisher.
Oh ok cool. I was just a little hesitant to start it since it's been nearly 3 years since anything was released.
Oh no they aren't THAT bad haha! That website is updated that regularly, if you go to the webstore(or the Comixology link) you'll see they've released through #8 which came out I think in like February. #9 I believe was in Previews Mag and should be coming out within the next couple of months and on their FB page, he's always updating with pages being drawn from #10 so it's just about completed, they just could be 6-8 months b/w issues.
Oh ok, haha. I didn't scroll past the first volume in comixology. A few months between issues is acceptable, haha. I'll definitely have to check it out then.
On Bendis, I feel like with this JJ book, he could have written it a while ago. He clearly loves the character and probably knew this was coming with the show being such a success. But yeah, I'd say dropping Guardians would be best.
Some crazy stuff happening in Marvel Now. Kinda weird that they are picking up abandoned storylines AGAIN.
That's such a weird tweet to disappear... Bummer. It was just a funny Gail Simone tweet, talking about a hypothetical Brubaker 2099 series. Like, the 2099 version of Brubaker, not Brubaker writing Marvel 2099. It made me lol.
I really hope that Avengers 1.1, centering on the Captain America, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch era, has some great metacommentary on people hating Marvel revamps. I hate that Javier Rodriguez is listed for that Doctor Strange and the Sorcerors Supreme title 'cause Spider-Woman NEEDS him. Out of new titles, I'm interested in Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, Avengers, Champions, Infamous Iron Man, Invincible Iron Man, Jessica Jones, and Occupy Avengers. I'm obviously not adding 7 new titles to my pull, though, so we'll see what I actually go with.
It's been a little while, but I have a new review up. Should have 3-4 in the upcoming weeks. Review: ‘The Sheriff of Bablyon Vol. 1: Bang. Bang. Bang.’ By Tom King
First I predicted (more or less) what the Hydra Cap explanation would be, and now it seems like I predicted the death in Civil War II. Yay me. This makes me even more intrigued in a certain upcoming series.
Thinking of digging into Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man run from 2000. Also read Black Panther #1 today since I got my Civil War Collector corps box that I had ordered last month. Definitely going to check more of that out as issues go up on MU.
Just found out what happens in the next volume of Civil war II. Man, marvel comics have been going downhill ever since the MCU.
What's everyone picking up today? I grabbed Nightwing and Hal Jordan Rebirth #1s. Then I grabbed the half off copy of JLA: Justice for all even though the shop owner told me DC is redoing a bunch of the trades and numbering so even though it's volume 5, it's probably going to be way different from the new printings so I'm not sure if I'll end up grabbing more of the Morrison/Waid run. I had heard good things about it, though, so I figured I'd check it out.
Nightwing, Hal Jordan, and Flash #2 continue the Rebirth trend of converting me to a DC reader. I need the next issue of Titans to come out, I'm so damn interested in following OG Wally West's story. Civil War II blows. Hard. The stakes feel so artificial, and everyone just feels like they are spinning their wheels rehashing the same points over and over. And why the f does Bendis hate Hawkeye so much? Out of the new Marvel Now era books, Death of X certainly intrigues me. It is however incredibly worrying to me that there are almost no other X-Men books. AND what absolutely looks like the return of my other favorite Marvel hero is also exciting. EDIT: OH and Jason Aaron on Unworthy Thor. Fuck yeah. Hope it goes to some seriously crazy places like the God Butcher story.
