Marvel's Teen Heroes Unite In New "Champions" Series From Waid, Ramos I don't like Ramos that much and am pretty bummed that he's the artist, but I also can't turn down a series with Spider-Man, Ms Marvel, Cyclops, and a Vision.
Yeah, that is something pretty clearly up my alley. Though time travelling Cyclops annoys me to no end, but the rest of the cast more than makes up for his inclusion.
How do you like all digital? I've been wanting to do so for a while now but I feel like I'm missing out if I don't have it in my hands. Just trying to reduce clutter though. Been thinking of going digital and maybe trades instead of weekly.
Honestly, it was just something that I was forced into. I love having actual comics in my hands. But my fiancee and I were moving into our new apartment and my 6,000 individual issues and 1,000 strong collection of trades were not welcome haha. So I donated what I could and sold off some stuff. I ended up getting it down to around 500 single issues that I want to keep for sentimental value and about 100 trades. My all digital reading experience is greatly enhanced by my iPad Pro. The over-sized screen makes books pop. It is an incredible reading experience. But it is also crazy expensive. Reading on a regular iPad was fine, I just found that I longed for the physical copy more when I had the regular iPad. In addition, if you don't mind being a few months behind, you can get your books for cheaper. All the major publishers (except Marvel) discount their titles by $1 after a few months. So, every week, I look through the new released and then add them to my wish list. And then I cruise my wishlist to see what has been discounted and I buy those books. It means I am behind on everything, but it also means I get to save a little money.
I could never go full digital. The most I could do is increase what I trade wait for or just don't read and start a cycle of getting rid of stuff I don't care about keeping. I just love comics on the printed page so much more than on a screen.
Style. I don't hate him or anything and appreciate the amount of energy he can put into a page, but some of his art can look pretty bad to me. With characters like Ms Marvel and Hulk, though, maybe he'll fit in here. He's why I wasn't in a hurry to follow Extraordinary X-Men.
Oh ok fair enough. I still don't pay enough attention to most artists besides the few I always like. Working on that haha.
I was reading before on an iPad mini and comics definitely made me upgrade to the pro. Although I went for the 9.7. I have nowhere near that amount of singles but I have like 4 or 5 long boxes full and a few smaller ones too and I'm dealing with limited space as well. I think the biggest issue for me with digital is the waiting game but I've been falling behind lately anyway so digital only is looking more appealing. I'd still like to collect trades though
So i failed pretty miserably at using that free month of Comixology Unlimited. Only read Lumberjanes, Hip Hop Family Tree, and Nailbiter. Gonna cancel it until I know I have more time to make it through a bigger chunk.
Ok so I read Under the Red Hood and it was fucking amazing. Definitely up there with favorite arcs, maybe second behind Hush. It also made Hush even better so that's awesome. I've never watched animated Batman, hoping to watch the series someday, but I ordered the movie on Blu Ray since I've heard good things and I'm pretty excited since I like Jensen Ackles. The "make a choice" scene was just the best, I just stared at those pages for like a half hour. Hey what's the deal with Oracle in it? They say calling her isn't an option and you never see her. Is she still alive/did what ever happened happen in War Games?
anyone a fan of Josh Simmons (Jessica Farm, The Furry Trap, House, Black River)? Mark of the Bat is one of my favorite takes on Batman.
Your suspicions are correct. Although I didn't find much beauty driving through it either, to be honest haha. But they do have a killer collection of fast food. Here in Chicago, we only really have McD's, BK, Taco Bell, and Wendy's in the city. So the variety in Texas always astonishes me. In Waco, they had: In N Out, Whattaburger, Chick Fil A, Taco Cabana, Wendy's, McDs, Taco Bell, and two other ones I forget the names of. That is insane. I would be 500 pounds.
What's everyone picking up this week? I just grabbed JL Rebirth to check it out. Almost picked up JLA: Justice for All by Morrison and Waid, but wasn't sure about it. Anyone read it before?
Hm the couple reviews I looked at had some good things to say overall about it. I'm going to read it shortly and see how I like it. I know I won't be collecting all of the titles I got one shots for anyway.
Picked up Superheavy and Batman Year 100 (which I haaaate the art for but for some reason am interested). As far as new stuff I got Batman 2 and The Walking Dead 156 which has the best cover ever. I was in a rush and I meant to grab Justice League Rebirth but I guess I got issue 52 because apparently I'm an idiot.
