I really like this promotional image for "Marvel NOW!" Some weird inclusions here, but still really cool.
My first thought was "didn't they do this with the Ultimate U at one point?" I checked my back issues and that was "Divided We Fall" but it also included a giant banner of characters though haha.
I mean, to be fair, there have been many Secret Infinity Civil Rebirth Crisis Wars over the years, lol. Some words just lend themselves to superhero stories I guess.
Anyone into Preacher? I picked up the first book after watching the pilot. The show's reminding me of Breaking Bad S1 so far (slow start, but definitely cool/promising for long-term).
Yeah the comics are incredible. I enjoy the TV show on its own but it might be the worst adaptation I've ever seen. It would be unrecognizable if they changed the characters names. I hope the first season is just setting up the comic arc, but the characters are changing so much they really don't feel like their counterparts.
I don't want to necessarily tie the word bad in with it, it's certainly a better stand alone product than the Constantine film, but I would say that movie shares a closer resemblance to Hellblazer than Preacher does to its source. Specifically the three main characters are just so goddamn unrecognizable.
I watched the first few episodes and enjoyed them. I think under different circumstances, it could have been huge. If it were integrated with the Arrowverse sooner, it might have survived.
I liked him when he was on Arrow. The actor seemed solid enough. At least Jesse Custer smokes on the Preacher tv series, haha
Haven't caught up on Arrow yet so can't speak for that but I enjoyed the show just don't think NBC was the right network for it. Think it would've done fine on FOX or CW
I totally agree! Enjoying the show, but I'm definitely liking the source material more. Cassidy seems to be the only one who's made the translation relatively unscathed (so far). Show Jesse is almost unlikable in contrast to his comic counterpart.
Picked up The Long Halloween yesterday, as well as two pulp fiction collections in comic forum. Delightful.
I had to fly to Texas this weekend for a wedding, and I took the time to read through some comics. At this point, I feel pretty comfortable stating that my favorite books going right now are East of West and Deadly Class. Each issue propels me forward in the best way. Honorable mentions to Saga and Southern Bastards.
Waco, Texas. My fiancee went to Baylor for undergrad and law school so she has a lot of friends in that area.
I forgot to put Clean Room in my last InStockTrades order but will probably put it in my next one, when the Avengers: Time Runs Out deluxe hardcover comes out. My last order, which will hopefully be here soon, had the Avengers deluxe hardcover between Infinity and Time Runs Out. I still need to get Secret Wars, which I'll do when I get Time Runs Out, and then I'll have the entire Hickman Avengers epic in hardcover format. I seriously love everything about that run, more than literally anything else Avengers I've read. My order also had 3 volumes of Love and Rockets. Of course I later saw one that I ordered at Half Price Books, lol.
Before I switched to all digital, I worshiped at the altar of InStock Trades and DCBS. Hickman's Avengers is great. I just love his Black Panther and Black Bolt. I read Marvel via the Marvel Unlimited app so I am on issue 8 of Secret Wars. It has been a lot of fun so far.
His Black Panther started me on the journey of being a huge fan of the character; he's probably now a Top 5 Marvel character for me. Between New Avengers, Secret Wars, and all of F4/FF before that, he also singlehandedly made me quite fond of Reed Richards, which is an impressive feat. When I read Secret Wars #9, I literally immediately re-read it before reading anything else. As a fan of Hickman's work on both F4 and Avengers, it just felt like such a rewarding culmination of both. If you remember the opening words of New Avengers #1, the final words of Secret Wars #9 will resound so much more.
