Nope! Getting it mostly because of what's going on in the TV universe since I'm still slightly confused by it haha.
Okay so it was just the finale and not the last few? I wasn't too sure with the Speed Force stuff that went on prior to the finale.
Speedforce is important throughout all Flash stories. The last scene is what sets off the events of Flashpoint though.
Great event! If you want more context you should start with Flash: Rebirth and read everything through Flashpoint but i know that's a rather large expense lol. If you are wanting to know more about the Speedforce i think Flash: Rebirth is a good "origin" of that. God damnit, know that when I say Rebirth, i'm not referring to the new stuff coming out haha it's one by Geoff Johns.
Flashpoint was a lot of fun. Some of the ancillary books were great. The Batman book, for instance, was fantastic.
What an awesome twist that was! I enjoyed the Flash/Wonder Woman fight one as well the other were decent but not really too relevant honestly.
Yeah I read New 52 up through issue 38 so I was more familiar with it in that sense. I have that Rebirth issue in my IST wishlist along with the other two Flash books by Geoff Johns that seem to be pretty popular. May be getting another PR gig for a band soon so maybe then I can snag those.
I liked the first half of Snyder's Zero Year, but I didn't really think it was up to snuff with Death of the Family and Court of Owls, but I'm reading the second trade right now and I love it so much. Now that is something I'd like to see on adapted (I would totally take it on Gotham, ha) And I'm up to Zero Year with Batgirl. Besides Batman I'd say these are my favorite superhero stories I've read so far. Babs is the best and the villain roster has been incredible. Knightfall is fucking awesome. And I finished Hack/Slash 3rd omnibus. Still my favorite and only getting better with all the cosmic Lovecraft stuff.
joker x the shining · m7781 print shop · Online Store Powered by Storenvy Man, I really like this. But I also don't need any more things to frame and find a place to hang up haha.
I might get it. Literally the only posters I have on my walls are maps from fantasy books and video games, haha
I haven't hung any of my stuff back up since I've moved back home. But I have Batman, Superman, Groot, Breaking Bad, Fight Club, and some other stuff already framed just sitting around.
@ Henry: A layman's guide to why people are flipping out over DC Comics' Rebirth #1 I agree with this article in that, on a meta level, that two comics in 1986 saw great success with a darker tone, Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. Since then DC comics have gotten much darker and increasingly nihilistic. I read a lot of violent mature comics but I also like that Rebirth is acknowledging this on a story level and kind of stating its time to bring back some hope and fun into DC. The ending was truly a holy shit moment as the panels moved from 2 panel, to 4 to the Watchmen 9 panel grid to the Batman splash page even if I don't really necessarily want Watchmen brought into the main DC universe but I'm in for now. I appreciate Watchmen, own it, and have read it many times. But much like DKR (which I also own and have read many times) I am kind of over the whole superhero deconstruction story. They were the first guys to do it but now there have been many, many of those stories since 86 and I feel like a lot of them are too same. I am way over the Frank Miller Batman as fascist portrayal as well. If I was given 5 trades (superhero) that I could take to a desert island I wouldn't pick either.
i agree to an extent. there really wasn't a shift in tone preflashpoint to postflashpoint for batman like there was superman, the social justice warrior. my point was more or less that this "rebirth" doesn't negate the stories being told (whereas flashpoint was very clearly doing a lot of that), and there has been a ton of quality storytelling in the New52. In Batman's case, the core book has consistently been great. And yup, the Robin thing was a total stretch. Talk about a crappy mentor :P
dude. yes. GL:Rebirth was great, but Sinestro War was one of the best crossovers I've read in the past decade or more. It was absolutely one of those stores where there was epic moment after epic moment. And that last page in the Sinestro Corps Special, holy crap.
I have a lot of non-comics reading that I'll be doing this weekend, but I'm hoping to fit in The City of Owls and Death of the Family in.
