Do you guys think any creatives actually make money off Alias ebooks anymore other than the guys up top? Should I feel bad if Bendis doesn't get pennies from me? Lol. I think it's insane that it isn't in Marvel Unlimited, which I do pay for, despite never using it. Just rewatched Jessica Jones S1 for the first time since it came out and forgot how much I loved it. I think it's better than every season of the entire Charlie Cox Daredevil series, which I also love.
Morrison imo is the greatest comic writer of all time, one of the most original thinkers of our time, and a personal hero. Good call
I've been following several of my favorite comic creators on Instagram, one of whom is Zoe Thorogood, and I often wonder, is it weird that she's dating an older man, or is the truly weird thing the fact that ppl are making such a big deal out of the age gap between two consenting grown ass adults. They look cute together, in a way that I personally don't find as screaming "groomer." Like damn mind your own business sheesh. I guess ppl online just need something to be mad about smh
I know I’m late to the party, but finally am working my way through the Absolute line. Absolute Batman isn’t quite speaking to me yet, but that may change as the payoff for all the setup comes through. Absolute Wonder Woman however is fantastic and something special. I love everything about that book. Martian Manhunter and Superman are next up.
Tbh I’ve really liked to loved all of the absolute stuff. Holding out on doing issues as they come out and waiting for volumes. Getting a bunch later this year.
what are some ongoing non-DC/Marvel series you guys are following written by women? i just realized, now that Roots of Madness by Stephanie Williams has ended, the only one I'm currently pulling is Monstress by Marjorie Liu as for upcoming stuff i'm looking forward to, Ignition Press has Sickos by Tini Howard in July, followed by Prima Apparata by Olivia Dufault in September; Boom has Gastronomique by Marguerite Bennett in August; Image has Chachu by Iman Vellani, also in August
I’m pretty sure Marian Heretic is an ongoing series that’s just taking a break between arcs. Besides that one, I think all my non-Big 2 comics I’m reading by women are miniseries. Exploit has been pretty cool. Cowritten by Laura Hudson and Tim Leong, with art by Emiliana Pinna. 4-issue miniseries published by Mad Cave Studios, which just has one issue left (though I haven’t gotten to 3 yet). Cool journalist, anti-tech bro comic with a sapphic lead. The first issue of Seven Wives, a crime miniseries written by Zoe Tunnell for IDW, was a promising start. I don’t like that it doesn’t look like the creators have any ownership with this IDW line, but Tunnell is a cool trans writer who deserves more work than token Pride special shorts, so. Glad to see her work in this genre. Very excited Heaven, the upcoming graphic novel by cartoonist Katie Skelly. It’s been too long since the last Skelly graphic novel. I adore her art style; very loose and minimal, but also so attractive imo. Also agree with you on being excited for Sickos and Chachu. And I’ll also for sure give at least the first issue of Prima Apparata a shot; seems like such a cool, weird premise for a comic. Forgot about Gastronomique. Oh, and for whatever it’s worth, the most recent issue of Gunslinger Spawn (I think it’s #54?) was the start of Erica Schultz taking over as writer. That’s an ongoing outside of the big 2 that’s now written by a woman, though I know Spawn is an acquired taste. Curious what she does with it (especially as part of an initiative that also has Matt Rosenberg taking over the main Spawn series). Honorable mention to a miniseries that just started this week that I think you’d like, even though the writer and artist are both (gay) men. Did You Here About Mimi Green? by Connor Goldsmith and Josh Cornillon is off to such an exciting start. Surreal body horror with sapphic lead who’s kind of a bitch (which is kind of a big part of the story). Cornillon’s art is so cool, nailing both the character stuff and the horror stuff.
