I could honestly do without Waid writing Legion again, lol. Let’s get someone like Al Ewing, or Deniz Camp, or G Willow Wilson, or perhaps Ram V. My fear is that it’ll be, like… Joshua Williamson, or maybe Tom Taylor? Which to me would be a fate worse than no book.
He’s fine. But, that’s my problem: He’s fine. Mostly just interesting to me when he’s with a cool artist (mainly Chris Samnee). And, he’s written the Legion more than once over the years in various iterations. It’d be a boring pick.
I’m not opposed to Waid writing the legion. I actually enjoyed his last go around, which I know is an unpopular opinion for the most part. But I think I’d be surprised if he were the actual ongoing writer as opposed to the guy re-introducing them via this DC history book. I’ve heard that Deniz Camp was a big legion fan. So maybe that will manifest itself. I just really want the legion back.
i've had this for a while now so idk why it took me so long to get to it but i finally read vol 4 of Poison Ivy and holy shit this series is so fucking cool. fungi pam is such an interesting (and visually stunning!) iteration of the character. buuut she promised, no more mushrooms. these hardcover editions are absolutely gorgeous, too. i already have vol 5 preordered
Marvel and DC's Deadpool and Batman crossover revealed — See a first look (exclusive) Two Batman/Deadpool one-shots, one by Grant Morrison + Dan Mora & the other by Zeb Wells + Greg Capullo. Fucking ridiculous lol.
I'm glad the Steph and Cass Batgirl runs have been reprinted in omnibus recently so their stories will find a wider audience but at the same time I'm a bit peeved I paid so much for some of the individual trades that were out of print The new edition of Nimona is gorgeous, I almost wanna buy it again
Has anyone read The Wicked and the Divine? I keep seeing it in used book stores, and the premise is interesting so I was thinking of picking it up, but I didn't realize it was nine volumes. I've gotten so many series I've still yet to start
It’s rad. Gillen & McKelvie are a great creative team. If you decide you wanna read it all, they just released a compendium that collects the whole series in a single, really thick volume. Pretty dang good deal! (Though you could also maybe try the first volume used as a test, before getting that.)
Another thing that looks interesting but I didn't realize was so long is Something is Killing the Children. I've read Tynion's Detective Comics run tho so at least I'm already acquainted with his work I already have so many books and series I've yet to get to so I really need to stop going to book stores but I just can't help myself. Even if I don't get anything, I'm adding stuff to my ever-expanding Amazon wishlist just to keep track of things that look cool
I just got Hoopla! My first read was West Hollywood Monster Squad! Sina Grace is one of my favorite writers rn
catching up on this month's comics and just wanna reiterate that Kelly Thompson is absolutely fucking killing it on Birds of Prey and Absolute Wonder Woman
Catching up on my back log and have really enjoyed the North Fantastic Four run so far. I enjoy how each issue is relatively stand alone and there’s a lot of fun back to their roots elements. On the opposite end, Hush 2 sucks so far. It feels clear that Loeb has read nothing since the first Hush book as every character is basically the same as they were in the early 2000’s. There’s been so much development over the years, especially with Jason, that’s just ignored for a plot that we’ve seen done better many times since then.
I’m not surprised that the Loeb & Lee sequel comic sucks, lol. And also not surprised that it’s hit delays. Thankfully there’s a Red Hood comic on the way by Gretchen Felker-Martin and Jeff Spokes, which will surely be the first good Red Hood comics since Judd Winick almost two decades ago!
Not crazy about Hush 2 but still enjoying it. The Red Hood stuff definitely sucks though, I’m surprised Alfred hasn’t shown up. Something I am crazy about is the Giant Oversized issues of Hush 2. Going to frame them.
i'm glad i save so much on used trades bc i'm spending so much on single issues now. i'm even getting random ones i don't plan on reading just because i like the covers and want to display them!
Been reading a bit lately. I’ve read the first 7 issues of Absolute Batman. I’ve enjoyed it as a fun elseworlds story. The art is great. Also working my way through Ram V’s New Gods. This is a book I really enjoy. Part of me wishes the book had a few more pages each month and took more time to breathe. But I’m very much on board for however long he gets to write this book.
