lol. Yeah, Sophie drew the first and I think third arc of Kelly Thompson’s Jem and the Holograms. And she’s written and/or drawn a bunch of other things here and there, including a lot of TMNT (which isn’t a series I’ve read much of). She’s writing a Mothra miniseries that starts soon.

Tamra Bonvillain is a pretty prolific colorist, who’s done work on a ton of various series. I would’ve be surprised if you have something she worked on and didn’t notice? She’s one of my absolute favorites, up there with Jordie Bellaire and Matt Wilson.

  2. Tamra did Crush and Lobo?! fuck

so yeah i guess i'm gonna have to add Supergirl to my pull list. i probably would've done so anyway bc it's Supergirl but damn. now i'm really, really excited.

Goodness, how long has it been since Fraction wrote a comic for the Big Two?

Jimmy Olsen was 2019-2020, and Hawkeye before that wrapped up in 2015. But, I think you could argue 2014 was when he last worked on a “traditional” Big 2 book?

I’m curious how he ended up getting the job (surely Zdarsky played a major role), and also curious what Fraction cape shit feels like in 2025.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Jimmy Olsen.

But yeah, it’s definitely an interesting choice to return to Big Two superhero shit since he’s been doing the TV thing recently.

One of my coolest internet comic friends wrote a great 2-part article about the Legion of Super-Heroes. And I’m biased, but I think she did a killer job. Even if you aren’t familiar with the Legion, if you’re into the X-Men and/or Superman/Supergirl, it’s worth a read!

Definitely going to read it, since the Legion is one of my favorite super teams and I’m desperate for them to come back in a meaningful way.

I’m so excited for this project that I’m gonna use Patreon and read it digitally, things I tend not to do, lol. (But, I’ll also be absolutely thrilled when it’s been serialized enough to get a physical version.)

Alex Segura is a cool dude I love interacting with online who’s been getting a lot of career momentum as of late. And, Sara Century is one of my favorite people in “fandom” spaces with some nice writing under her belt. And, that art from Archie artist Pat Kennedy really does channel some Jaime Hernandez vibes, which is like… the highest praise I could ever give comic book art.

  9. I was idly scrolling fb when I came across a panel where Gordon reveals he knew Babs was Batgirl. obv the comments were no help, so i did a google reverse image search and found that it was from Injustice. I played both Injustice games way before I started actually collecting comics, i loved how the games brought in multiversal characters that would then interact with alternate versions of themselves. I noticed the comics story took place over a span of several years, so each arc was accordingly titled Year Two, Year Three, etc. I looked into it further and apparently the multiversal shenanigans don't happen until Year Five? that kinda made the entire series feel less appealing to me. I don't read nearly as much Marvel as I do DC, but watching Marvel it's been really fun seeing a room with a bunch of Lokis or a bunch of Spideys. If the Injustice comics is mostly just what would happen if Clark went full on dictator, and only towards the end of the series does Bruce bring in heroes from a different Earth, maybe this series isn't for me. (also the fact that Tom Taylor did DCeased makes me a bit wary, I flipped through some of that and it just screams dark and edgy for its own sake)

So, I’m not personally a fan of Tom Taylor’s work for the most part. It ranges from “uneven with a few high highs” (All-New Wolverine) to “utter garbage” (Jon Kent Superman). And, the premise of Injustice is so not what I’m into that, no matter how “well done” it may be, I cannot give a shit.

All that being said, I do know a lot of a certain kind of DC fan really like both Injustice and DCeased (including some who aren’t obsessed with edgy comics). Supposedly some of the characterization of various characters is really good? Idk.

Now, some DC fans praise books that I look at and go “…this?” lol. So, whatever. But yeah.

Each year of Injustice has a different theme. Year 1 is the main backstory for the game. Year 2 is the Lanterns, Year 3 is Magic characters, Year 4 is the Gods (the Greek/Amazonian ones), and Year 5 is game setup introducing the multiverse (not any characters from other multiverses if I remember correctly though). There’s also Ground Zero, which is the first game mostly from Harley’s perspective, Injustice 2 which is setup for the second game, and Year Zero, which is Justice Society themed. They are fun, but not super deep or consequential outside Year One. I enjoy them for being a pretty wide ranging view of the DC universe, but they’re mostly popcorn flicks that sometimes veer into the too edgy realm because they can kill off characters not in the games a will without hesitation.

I’m digging Justice League Unlimited and the new JSA books. I wouldn’t say they were anything spectacular. But they feel a return to the more classic story telling.

Really, that’s how I feel about most of the DC All In initiative. Now if they just gave me a solid Legion book and maybe a Teen Titans book.

I’ve been completely checked out of X-Men since the turn of the year. Just seeing now that NYX, X-Force, and X-Factor have been cancelled. Are they being replaced by anything?

Well, they’ve been launching (mostly solo) ongoings and minis a ton, so there’s still a pretty full X-line without those.

In the case of NYX (which, btw, I haven’t been reading, but it’s a big fan favorite amongst the biggest Krakoa fans), Kelly & Lanzing are doing a series of one-shots about Kamala experiencing various past X-Men moments. And, Laura Kinney Wolverine already has her own ongoing.

I’d imagine we’d also get a couple more team books by the end of summer? But nothing known as of now.

Ram V's Rare Flavors is incredible. I may like Laila Starr a bit more, but damn, he's such a fascinating storyteller, ever so seamlessly weaving culture and folklore into modern day.

Started reading some Catwoman. Joelle Jones had to deal with the fallout from the wedding. Her run starts out okay and only gets better as it goes, she ties all the threads together quite nicely. I'm immediately drawn in to Ram V's issues, though. Selina's finally made it back home to Gotham, and that's where I'm at right now.

I'm a little frustrated with UPS/USPS bc my B&N shipment of vol. 1-4 of Ram V's Detective Comics was supposed to arrive today and it didn't

a little more on this: it's not as dark/horror-y as i expected/hoped but it was still very enjoyable. it's a look into the Asian American experience you don't really get to see all that often. Definitely interested in picking up her other work Red Light
