Read all of vol 2 in one sitting, holy shit, could not put it down. Kind of surprised how dark and gory this is. The artwork is amazing
Also just finished vol 2 of Sunstone, I'm enjoying it way too much --wait, no no no, it's not like that, I'm not doing anything dirty, what I mean is-- I thought this would be, y'know, just a fun time, and it is, I love the sense of humor, but when it gets deep, it really goes there. These characters' personalities are so fleshed out and their backstories so... real. I feel like I'm falling in love with them as I'm watching them fall in love with each other. After reading Harleen I expected amazing character work and beautiful artwork from Stjepan Sejic but I'm still just constantly blown away
Steve Orlando, who’s finally giving Wanda the spotlight she deserves in a fucking stellar Scarlet Witch book, is writing an Iceman solo? Called “Astonishing Iceman,” a title I had dreamed of using someday myself?? And, there’s a Maddie Pryor team with Archangel & Gambit & my precious Albert (the weirdo cyborg Wolverine I thought no one besides me & Larry Hama cared about)???
And, one more Fall of X announcement for today… Seeing a team with two New Mutants but not Karma bums me out, hope she has a prominent place elsewhere. But, Magik + Dani Moonstar + Dust + Marrow + Typhoid Mary? That’s a killer roster.
X-Men is the best but man, I hope they don't have too many X titles in the Fall of X era. I'm sure there'll be like 10 titles though lol
There’s 13 titles (including continuing ones) on the Fall of X teaser, lol. Includes Invincible Iron Man but not Deadpool, funny enough (even though Deadpool is on Duggan’s upcoming Uncanny Avengers). The other titles that need announcements are Children of the Vault, Alpha Flight, and Uncanny Spider-Man. Which, I’m starving for insight on what Uncanny Spider-Man is! I’m working on keeping my pull list modest and varied, which has led to me only having 1-2 X-books at a time. Currently just on New Mutants (waiting to read X-Men Red til I have a couple trades has been hard, lol), not sure yet what I’ll do when the fall hits. These are all attractive, lol.
Ugh 13 lol. Maybe Children of the Vault will be the new version of New Mutants since that one is missing from the announcement. Definitely curious to see what Uncanny Spider-Man is as well. My pull list currently has X-Men, X-Men Red, and New Mutants. Uncanny Avengers, Dark X-Men, and Realm of X are very likely to be added to it in the future lol
I finished the first story arc (volumes 1-5) and I loved it! Apparently the plan is this series will be twenty volumes long (divided into three story arcs), and dammit I'm gonna eventually own them all
Torunn Grønbekk has been confirmed as the new ongoing Red Sonja writer! Spinning out of the FCBD preview issue next month. Longtime Red Sonja artist Walter Geovani is drawing this run, and the first issue will have variant covers by Mike Mignola & Jim Cheung. Between this and Titan’s new Conan the Barbarian, it’s gonna be a great year for sword & sorcery comics. I’ve never gotten taken the dive into either in an ongoing fashion and am quite excited to read both.
I’m very, very, VERY curious how this new publisher ends up functioning. Lots of great creators involved.
Don Simpson has a new comic dropping this summer that’s an unofficial sequel to 1963, Alan Moore’s unfinished 90s Image series (that itself was a pastiche of Silver Age comics, particularly Marvel). The series was created by Moore, Steve Bissette, & Rick Veitch with Jim Valentino; then Jim Lee stepped in and offered to draw the finale “annual” before announcing a year-long drawing hiatus; then the internal politics at Image between Lee & Valentino & Rob Liefeld & the rest, plus Moore & Bissette having a falling out, dragged out and ultimately destroyed the project. Simpson lettered and helped with the art, and had his own issues with Moore over their collaboration “In Pictopia!” which has led to Don… not being the biggest Moore fan, lol. Simpson’s a really good cartoonist, so I’m very excited to see how his satirical pastiche-of-a-pastiche turns out!
Definitely didn't see Nightcrawler as Spider-Man coming. https://www.marvel.com/articles/com...ider-man-nightcrawler-si-spurrier-lee-garbett

I canceled some stuff I had on pre-order via Amazon/B&N/Target, found an independent bookstore nearby with a nice website and ordered from there instead, they do free in-store pickup so I don't even have to pay for shipping! Oh and apparently this Saturday is Independent Bookstore Day. Support your local businesses!
Speaking of supporting smaller stores, Free Comic Book Day is coming up soon! Saturday, May 6th. FCBD is always a great time to support your local comic shop. Home Page
Getting back into JH Williams III Batwoman, the Wonder Woman team up was wild. Lots of good storytelling accompanied by lots of great art. I've yet to purchase vols 5 and 6; even though they finish off the run, it kinda rubs me the wrong way that Williams was dropped from the series because he wanted to give Kate a gay wedding.
Wonder Woman: Lords and Liars was great! I've pretty consistently liked anything by Mariko and/or Jillian Tamaki
