lol. I forgot to put Superman and the Authority on my Christmas list because I forgot the hardcover would be out before Christmas. Might have to just buy it for myself while Christmas shopping at some point. Eager to finally read it.
Abrams has announced a Fantastic Four: Full Circle graphic novel written and illustrated by legendary comic creator Alex Ross.
Finished Spider-Gwen, really enjoyed it, probably the only thing I didn't like is how annoying Matt Murdock is as a villain This next. It's... so short? Am I getting this right? It's collected into a single volume? Would you recommend her New 52 run as well?
Dan Didio is such a putz lol that jackass literally doesn't understand any of the characters his company is publishing
So Elegy is pretty much the prologue to New 52. New 52 reset most of DC's continuity but left Batman's intact. I think everything through volume 5 is fantastic stuff.
Yes, Elegy was like a prequel to N52 Batwoman. I remember N52 being announced and they had released a #0 Batwoman issue right before that and then another #0 or something the original rollout of this was very odd. Last I knew Didio is out of a job
I think for New 52 Batwoman I could use the one week free trial of DC Universe Infinite; probably won't keep the subscription since I read so sporadically and also prefer physical. I was also able to place holds at my library for Batgirl 2015 1-3 and Silk 2015 0-3. I've noticed Harley has had her own series since like 2000, so just out of curiosity, are those good? I just rewatched the show recently so I'm not really craving Harley stories.
Harley is a mixed bag. It started during New 52. Anything older is Batman Adventure spinoff stuff and is generally good. For the New 52 stuff, I think it gets a lot better after Connor's run, but it isn't bad. You need to read that for any context though. The characters all carry over and are kinda lovable. It's what the show is based off.
I really wish Marvel wasn’t putting out so many appealing comics. Shout out to Ram V getting to play so much in their symbiote corner.
I kind of wish Marvel would give Carnage a rest for a little while, just cause I feel like every year there's at least one ongoing Carnage saga happening.
Eh, I disagree, at least in part. They’ve had too many big Carnage events in recent years, but they’ve really only had one other ongoing Carnage series before. And, that series, by Gerry Conway and Mike Perkins, was really good. Getting someone as good as Ram V (whose Many Deaths of Laila Starr miniseries was my favorite comic of 2021) to write a monthly Carnage book sounds like a great way to keep that currently popular brand in circulation while also actually telling a compelling story in those pages.
Joshua Williamson's first Batman issue was fantastic. Robins started pretty well definitely interested for more. Batgirls I'm still uncertain on
I don't know how Lemire can consistently put out such great stories. Just caught up with the first 3 issues of Mazebook. Guess I need to check out Gideon Falls and more Black Hammer soon
Also caught up with The Silver Coin. @Vivatoto you reading this? Straight up horror and it's fantastic!
Yeah it’s a lot of fun. I wasn’t dying for another anthology but it won me over just being so damn good.
I spent the last couple of weeks reading through East of West for the first time. What an epic and entertaining story. Probably one of the best stories I’ve read. Can definitely see why I enjoyed Hickman’s House/Powers X-Men run so much now.
I don't wanna jinx it, considering how terribly wrong I was when I theorized Donny Cates & Ryan Stegman would jump on Amazing Spider-Man after Nick Spencer's shit run ended (good for Cates & Stegman going creator-owned instead). But, a popular theory on comics Twitter is that Jonathan Hickman could take over Spider-Man. The popular initial theories of multiverse and magic are both kinda spoken for right now. The only other major corner I can see him in is cosmic, which might be covered enough by Slott's upcoming Reckoning War and Cates' Thor. But, the "Beyond" era of ASM ends in March, which means someone is doing something with it in April... I'm sure I'll be terribly wrong again, lol. But, if this actually somehow happens, I'll restructure my whole pull list to make room for it.
2 Things: 1) Donny & Ryan are creator owned? Are they leaving Hulk? 2) I've been really wanting to add a Spiderman title to my pull on a more consistent basis but Beyond seemed like too much considering the 3X monthly plus I have no clue who Ben Reilly even is, never heard of him before. I know there's the Savage title coming but that doesn't really interest me, especially since it's Joe Kelly writing it. I have all issues of Non-Stop but haven't read them yet. Maybe the next run will be the one that makes me add it to my pull.
You’re slightly misremembering, lol. Donny Cates & Ryan Ottley (most known for Invincible) are on Hulk. Cates & Stegman are doing Vanish, a creator owned superhero book initially through Substack and then eventually Image.
