Wait that's who they decided to replace him with?? Are they just not wanting people to read it? My goodness
Dude must just always hit deadlines, be easy to work with, and not make a measurable difference on sales, in spite of how much we on the Internet hate his work, lol. On the plus side, sneaking poorly traces & integrated women’s faces from magazine covers into art is still better than sneaking antisemetism into art! So, if getting Land on Kang is the cost so Bennett can get fucked, so be it I guess.
Man is Bendis' Superman run bad. He writes a fine Superman, but the entire story of Rogol Zarr and Jor El is just...awful. And the way he writes Lois just comes off as...icky.
Jeff Lemire killing it with another new series, Primordial. Love that he's still working with Sorrentino, who has become a favorite of mine.
Yeah, I’m excited for the next Demon Days with her version of Storm and Thor. It’s been so cool so far. So glad she does interiors. When I saw somewhere that she has a past in tattooing, it made so much sense. Her style’s such a compelling blend of that, Japanese illustration, and European comics. The European influence puts her in a similar space as Emma Ríos, who’s European with Japanese influences, and that’s dang good company, lol.
Emma Ríos? Her big series is Pretty Deadly, with Kelly Sue DeConnick and Jordie Bellaire at Image. She’s also done a couple Doctor Strange stories, a 3-issue Cloak & Dagger mini, and other miscellaneous Marvel, Image, and DC stuff. She’s got a lot of, like, Moebius and Miyazaki influence in her stuff. If Peach Momoko did some pen and ink pages with a more traditional color artist, it’d probably end up in similar territory.
Wow, stellar end to Donny Cates Babyteeth. I started the series way before I loved Cates who has now become a favorite. Between that and Supergirl it was a pretty emotional day for my pull.
Babyteeth was absolutely wonderful. Glad that story got the ending it deserved. Can't wait to go back and read it again.
@Tim I know you mentioned in the X-Men thread you haven't read Last Annihilation, but if you like Wiccan and Hulkling you should read the Last Annihilation one shot about them. It's a lovely read.
I’ve almost pulled the trigger on that a couple times and then decided for whatever reason not to. If I don’t have a ton in my pull box next week, I should just grab it, lol. I don’t know if Marvel has concrete plans for those characters, but if not, I don’t mind them just getting these tie-in one-shots here and there. Do a couple more, and they’ll be able to throw ‘em all into a single trade paperback whenever Marvel Studios finally does whatever they’re planning with them.
