My buddy Joe illustrated the back up in this issue! I’m a filthy trade waiter, so I haven’t seen this yet, but this is his first work for Image and I am so stoked for him.
My local finally got my copy of Radiant Black in and holy shit- didn’t see that coming at all. Certainly a bold choice and I’m really interested in how it plays out.
Ugh, Image keeps shorting my comic shop, haven't gotten the third issue of Nocterra yet and didn't get Monstress (my favorite comic I pick up) today, despite them both being on my pull list.
Hm. Sounds cool. But, if that's really what Hickman's upcoming series is about, where's Storm going? I really hope she's gonna be a major presence in some ongoing X-book, not monopolized by Black Panther.
Ended up with a massive stack of comics that I don’t have shelf space for. Oops haha. Bought 2 Reckless books, 3 November hardcovers to complete the run, Fear Agent Vol 1 final edition, first two volumes of Lady Killer, You Look Like Death, Department of Truth Vol 1, Invincible Vol 1, Kill or Be Killed Vol 3, and Tales from the Crypt Vol. 1. My wallet might not be excited, but I am!
Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley will be on Hulk soon and Ram V, Al Ewing, and Bryan Hitch are on the upcoming Venom book. I really need to catch up on Castes' Venom run. I fell off maybe after about 10 issues just because of life.
I was sad that Cates Venom was ending but fuck Ram V should be great! He’s been on fire this year. I’m hesitant about Cates on Hulk though. Immortal Hulk is cool and despite really liking Venom, Thor, Crossover and all of Cates other things that have been going in the last while, they all read very similarly. I’m unsure how that will go with Hulk
I'm glad it's Ottley with Cates on Hulk, not Stegman... only because I'm still holding out hope that Spencer wraps up his Amazing Spider-Man run with one more arc after Sinister War, followed by a Cates/Stegman ASM relaunch in December to coincide with the new film. When imagining that hypothetical Cates ASM, one of the writers I'm thought about for Venom is Ram V, but I didn't think it'd actually happen. Throw in current fan favorite Marvel cosmic writer Al Ewing as cowriter, plus Bryan Hitch on art, & you have an incredibly compelling team for the post-KIB status quo. I really dig the promo images:
My plan is to do a big dive into catching up on comics once I'm all caught up with Stephen King books... which will be in August haha. I'll probably squeeze in some trades here and there but I'll likely be focused on reading The Dark Tower and The Stand comics for the next couple of months.
I've been interested in getting into Hulk recently so sounds like maybe Cates run will be a good time to jump in
I recommend checking out the current run from the start. I don’t like the Hulk, but it’s pure body horror and wonderful and crazy.
One of the best #1's I've read in a while. Such an interesting premise and sharply written. Looking forward to reading more.
Sorry, should have been specific. Immortal Hulk by Al Ewing. Starts with this https://www.amazon.com/dp/1302912550/?tag=absolutepunk-20
The Nice House on the Lake is excellent. Glad I went in knowing nothing. Tynion has all my trust at this point.
Was gonna swing by one of my local shops and look through some bins, but decided to stay home and chill. Ten minutes later a buddy hits me up asking if I wanted to roll with him, so I took it as a sign. We were looking for Star Wars books and the S section was poorly alphabetized so there were a bunch of Spiderman/Superman/etc mixed in. I was thumbing through and out popped Original Sin ASM4 (1st Silk) for $20. I had bought a few other things as well and since I hit their back issues pretty regularly he gave me 25% off my order. I’m a huge Silk fan so it definitely made my day.
