Ah cool! I mostly just didn’t know if they were anthologies. Thanks! Cary Fukunaga directing? I read the first issue, loved the art and hated the writing, mostly the villain.
Pretty much? Which has wild implications on Diamond, the direct market, smaller publishers, shops, etc. Very curious how Diamond responds.
Great Humble Bundle from Boom! Humble Comic Bundle: The Best Year of BOOM! Studios (pay what you want and help charity)
Dope. I’m a big John Romita Jr fan, even though I don’t always love the people he’s paired with. (Which, this promo image demonstrates pretty well, lol. Marte Gracia colors are great on artists like Pepe Larraz, but some of the choices with the glares here aren’t flattering to Romita’s sketchier style. Would’ve liked to see someone like Dean White, or maybe like a Matt Wilson, color this.) I’m very curious what title he ends up on.
I'm guessing, based on how this announcement was made ("he's back at Marvel in July," not "here's a comic he's drawing in July"), that he's Marvel exclusive. Part of me would like to see him launch an Image book at some point with the right creative team, & then just do some small Marvel & DC work here & there along the way. He seems to be pretty comfortable in the corporate superhero realm, though, like his father before him; I also bet Marvel offered him a pretty nice contract. Wonder if any other creators who were at DC in recent years go to Marvel, with the shake-ups at DC over the past the year or two.
I like JRJR alot too I just wish there was no exclusivity. I think all Image series with him would be really good depending on what the story was and the writer. Did you enjoy Kick-Ass?
Nah, I’m on average kinda lukewarm on Mark Millar, & that series seems particularly steeped in his worst ticks as a writer. Too driven by shock value. (Isn’t there a rape in the one volume?) Remember thinking about giving that “new girl” relaunch a shot, but we only got so much comic-reading time in our lives, & I don’t think Kick-Ass is ultimately for me, lol.
Had this talk with one of the employees at my local. I really liked issue 1, but we were both kinda reserved wanting to see how issue 2 held up. I’m even more stoked on it now.
Two Batman comics today, one by Chip Zdarsky and the other by Tom Taylor. Life is good. Also pumped for Chip's Justice League story.
After a looooong lay off due to having a baby, I’m getting back in the swing of reading comics here and there. But I’m already comically (heh) behind. Meaning I just read Leviathan Rising #1! Thought it wasn’t bad! Looking forward to the Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane books.
I decided to read the first couple of Invincible trades before watching the show a couple of weeks ago. I’m now halfway through the whole run. I love how easy it is to read. Some dated issues with it early in the run but it’s fun.
I finished Invincible on Friday. What a ride. That was fun. But wow Way of X #1 might be one of the best X issues since HoX/PoX. Spectacular start.
